So, please don’t send any scoops to the brad@newsaskew.com address starting tomorrow (Friday) and throughout next week if you’ve been doing so, send them directly to the scoops@newsaskew.com address to get them in. Seven Million Hits!

  • In a record-setting pace for us, we logged our last one million hits in just over TWO MONTHS! Incredible really. And so, another milestone is hit, SEVEN MILLION HITS. Thanks again to all of you for the visits, the referrals, and for sticking with us over the years. Seeing the counter soar like that is inspiration to keep things going and make News Askew a fun and interesting place to come back to day after day. Mark was kind enough to send us this screenshot of the number BEFORE the big number, though we never heard from the 7 millionth person (they likely were a regular visitor and just missed it). With hits coming in at this rate, we’d better start planning for something big when we hit 10 million! Again, thanks to all of you for making this our most exciting summer at News Askew yet. Let’s get on our way to that next million now!

New Kevin Interview At AICN…

  • AICN has posted a new interview with Kevin that focuses mostly on his comic projects and a bit about the animated series and film. Here’s a nice snippet from the piece:
GHM: What made you choose GA and DD as characters you wanted to work on. Wouldn’t most people try for Batman or Spider-Man?

KS: Too high profile. If you’re going to fail, do it more discreetly.

And I’ve gotten to write both Batman and Spiderman in both ‘Green Arrow’ and ‘Daredevil’, so that curiosity has been sated.

GHM: Any plans to return to Daredevil or is that impossibility with Brian Michael Bendis taking over as perm writer?

KS: Since our run on the book ended, Joe and I are always kicking around the notion of doing a graphic novel, rather than doing another arc in the regular run. Sooner or later, we’ll get to it.

GHM: Are there any other mainstream characters you’d like to take a shot at?

KS: Mainstream? No. But there are a few B and C listers I’d like to try.

GHM: Like who? Is there anything in the works, or is this just thinking out loud?

KS: Black Cat over at Marvel.

GHM: What other Askew comics are in the works?

KS: The aforementioned ‘Tales Gone Askew’, which’d be a series of stories about lesser characters in the Askewniverse (Steve-Dave and Walt, Julie Dwyer, etc.). Then there’s also the ‘Bartleby and Loki’ one-shot I’d like to do with Scott Morse. Also the ‘Mallrats 2: Die Hard in a Mall’ mini.

  • All of the editors and contributing writers at The Amazing Colossal Website have compiled their own personal list of the 19 best films of the 1990’s. Chasing Amy and Dogma show up on two of the lists and one of their writers speaks highly of all 3 of Kevin Smith’s first films. Check it out HERE.
  • Update: The missing Mystery Machine in the J&SBSB prints is not necessarily only with Grand cinemas. Other theaters have also reported the problem.
  • WizardWorld.com is selling 1000 copies of the Wizard mag as seen in J&SBSB. It’s currently going at $15. Get one (or two) before those puppies are gone!
  • Jason Lee continues to keep his slate full, with what sounds like a starring role in this new picture with Julia Stiles. Check out the details from Variety:
‘Stiles beguiles “Guy”‘

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) – Julia Stiles, currently in theaters with prep school tragedy “O,” will receive about $4 million to star opposite Jason Lee in the MGM comedy “A Guy Thing.”

Lee plays a young man who wakes up the morning after his bachelor party with a mystery woman (Stiles) in his bed. Terrified that he’s cheated on his fiancee, he tries to cover up his would-be betrayal. Production is expected to begin by mid-November with Chris Koch (”Snow Day”) directing.

Recent credits for Stiles, 20, include “Save The Last Dance” and “10 Things I Hate About You.”

Lee, who is currently in “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” will also be seen in the upcoming “Big Trouble,” opposite Tim Allen, and “Vanilla Sky,” opposite Tom Cruise.

  • Finally today, a last minute addition – This Kevin Smith interview appears at Green Haven Magzine. Enjoy!
