  • Sounds like the J&SBSB premiere in the UK last night was a rousing success! Here’s a brief report from an eye witness:
Just thought I’d drop a line in and let you know about the amazing reaction J&SBSB got at the Leeds International Film festival. It eventually played to a full to the gills theatre at about midnight, and I personally have never seen an audience react to a movie in this way in my life. Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and I don’t think a person left the theatre without pains from laughing.
  • With the UK premiere excitement, Empire magazine is running quite a few stories around the film. Here’s an interesting blurb from Mark Hamill regarding his acception of the role:
How did Kevin Smith pitch your part in Jay and Silent Bob strike back to you?

Listen I turned down so many things that play on this same thing. But this very same thing. But this is special. The only time I would’ve considered it before was when Mel Brooks did Spaceballs. He didn’t ask me to do anything, but I thought “if he asks me, I probably will.” just because I love Mel Brooks so much. But he didn’t ask me, so that wasn’t a problem. But by avoiding all those kind of derivative send-ups, I was being careful so that when I did do it, it would be more meaningful. And ths was the one, because it was Kevin. He has such a great affection for Star Wars.

  • A fan read the recent Kevin Smith interview on Wizardworld.com and couldn’t resist creating an animation as the result of this comment:
Q: Any downside in having an action figure made of you?

A: Somebody could take your figure, I guess, and create a heinous little porno with it and post it online. It hasn’t happened yet, but I guess it could.”

While not exactly a porn flick, it’s one of the first flicks to star the Silent Bob figure (aside from the goofing around Kevin himself has done with them in the past). Check it out HERE.

  • This article about Kevin Smith’s appearance at Cornell University last Mondaynight was published in “14850 Today,” part of “14850 Magazine.” It’s well worth the read, and an excellent account of what it’s like to attend one of Kevin’s big Q&A sessions, from start to finish. Be sure to check it out.
  • Jay & Bob received a mention on the Top 5 website list again. Check out the reference HERE.
  • Clerks is screening at the Palace cinemas in Brisbane. Australia on Monday night at 7 PM as part of a double billing with the also enjoyable “Welcome To The Dollhouse”. Details can be found HERE.
  • Universty College Dublin, Ireland (UCD) is having a Kevin Smith week in October. They are showing all his films in a theater, with the exception of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back which hasn’t been released there yet. You have to be a member of the Science-Fiction Society in the College. Membership costs about £1 and it’s easy for people who are not students in the college to join, so if you’re in that part of the world, there’s a fun opportunity for ya.
