- We have just heard from the events organizers that the event at Villanova tomorrow will NO LONGER be held in the Pavillion, but has been moved to the much smaller “Villanova Room”. This means that VERY FEW SEATS are available! At presstime, of the 700 seats in there, 600 have been sold. So, call Villanova at 610-519-4211 and attempt to buy your tickets ahead of time, we’ve love for these last 100 to go to News Askew readers! Sorry for the late notice, we presented this information as soon as we heard it, so hopefully a lot of you read this in time and purchase ahead. See you there.

Everyone should thank Kevin Smith and the critically crucified Mallrats (I am not comparing the film to Christ, though it is dear to my heart and the DVD has the most enjoyable commentary track ever) for giving us Jason Lee.

- As some of you may know, today Kevin and crew filmed their big short scheduled to appear on THE TONIGHT SHOW at some point. Sounds like a good one, though there may be some spoilers in this description below, read at your own risk:
Just thought I’d fill ya in on the short film shoot from today. I got there a little before 7am, and there were already about 10 cars ahead of me. When all was said and done, I’d say there were about 30 or so cars total for our simulated traffic. The short itself features Dante and Randal, who, in trying to head out to a bar, end up getting stuck in traffic that is going to an N’Sync concert. They proceed to have a very funny conversation that centers around what would they be willing to do for a flying car. (‘Flying Car’ was also the unofficial title of the piece itself). I understand there are some very funny moments, and also some Jetsons references, among others. I had to get most of this info from the 2nd A.D. between set-ups, as none of us could hear the dialogue from our cars. The only thing we repeatedly heard was Dante (Brian) yelling “ALRIGHTTT!!!!” at Randal (Jeff). Obviously, Randal is giving Dante a hard time..as usual. Although most of the cars (myself included) will not really be seen much in this piece, a few lucky cars (and faces) up front should get some screen time. If they use a couple of the wide shots they took, you might be able to see all of our cars very briefly.
The shoot lasted roughly from 7am-2pm. The crew was great and spent time talking to all us ‘traffic-folk’ in between shots. It was nice seeing Kevin, Brian and Jeff standing all together chatting between takes, and I even shared a ride on “the bathroom van” with Mr. Hicks himself. Hey, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. (We gave him the front seat of course, the pampered star he is.. ha ha).
The sketches that this is a part of may start airing in a couple weeks on the Tonight Show. This film short itself has no scheduled air date and is not even guaranteed to air at all, although I heard someone say sometime in January. That’s my report from the set. There you have it.
This shorter report came from someone lucky enough to be really close to the action:
I was at the traffic shoot this morning, and I was surprised to see Brian and Jeff (Dante and Randall, for the lamens) and the short was a 9 minute dialogue they have in traffic. I had the honor of being in the car immediately behind them, so you’ll definitely see my mug in the background when this airs. I’m not going to ruin the dialogue, (it’s too funny), but I’ll ask you this, What would you do for a Flying Car?
We’ll keep you posted as we learn of the dates all of this stuff is airing. It’ll be great to see Jeff and Brian working together on screen yet again.
