• A couple of View Askew spottings on the tube lately – On MTV Cribs, a Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Poster was spotted in Jamal Anderson’s movie theatre at his home in Atlanta,Georgia. Also, on one of those in-between the flicks things on HBO, as a host interviewed folks at a movie theater, one of those appearing was wearing the “Snoogans” hat.
• A correction to yesterday’s news: Brian Langsdorf was the Construction Coordinator for the filming of Mallrats, NOT the Production Designer. Dina Lipton was the PD on the film. Sorry about any confusion.
• Jason Lee appears in the Transworld Skateboarding Magazine Photo annual.
• Matt Damon is scheduled to appear on Will & Grace’s Feburary 7th episode.

• Brodie shows up twice in today’s Newsbites. First, he’s featured in the above comic “Hollowood”, as seen on the Skedoozy website.

• Newsarama broke a BIG scoop this morning, including the first photo and details on Kevin’s new supervillian, Onomotopeia! The villain will first appear in Green Arrow #13 (on the cover no less!). Here’s their story:

• Check out AICN for part one of Mysterio’s observations on the Vulgarthon 3 experience, including his time spent before the show and for the first half of theater one (though they mistakenly call it VulgarCON).

• And last, but not least, in the latest issue of Alternative Press magazine, in their best of 2001 catagories, J&SBSB was named Best Movie of the Year, and Dogma was named best DVD of the year.

• Many folks in the UK have been asking of the status of View Askew DVD availability for that region (Region 2). Here’s a quick rundown of that stuff (which is now also available here at the View Askew Summaries):

• The latest on the Tour DVD front: Apparently, Destination Films (distributed by Columbia) is starting their own line of Niche, Special Edition DVDs. As you’ll see in the attachment above, they announce that an upcoming title is “An Evening With Kevin Smith.” It won’t be out until May at the earliest, since our contact has the schedule through April and the DVD isn’t on it. We’ll let you know when we learn more, as we’re sure someone who’s reading this right now will appear on it with a question or two…
• Here’s some more early looks at Green Arrow #11 courtesy of the Pop Culture Shock website.

• The newest Entertainment Weekly issue’s main article is “Our Guide to 2002”. One of the sections is “Calendar Forecast” where important entertainment events are pin-pointed throughout the year. On June 2nd, it says “Dogma” will premiere on Comedy Central. We recall announcing this a LONG time ago, just goes to show you how long in advance TV rights for a flick are purchased. The issue also featured a humor bit on something called “The Gay Channel”, where the 9:30 movie is “Amy Chasing Amy”. See scan above.
• We’ve confirmed now that J&SBSB indeed will open in Australia on the 24th. Sorry for all the confusion! The movie will be rated ‘MA’ (people under 15 must be accompanied by an adult), which is the closest they have to the US R. Incidentally, Clerks got an ‘R’ there, which is the equivalent to US NC17. Enjoy the film!
• No idea on the authenticity of THESE, but if they’re real, it could be a pretty cool collector’s item for you to own.
• Huh, here’s a strange one. Apparently, some German folks have created a program that records sound in Windows (or something to that effect), and it’s called “Silent Bob”.
• Obviously a band full of View Askew fans here. The band “Harley Quin” (Note the single “L”) has named their first EP “Faster than Walt Flanagan’s Dog”. Check out their site HERE.
• Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back will be screening at Purdue University on 1/25 and 1/26 at 7:30 and 9:30 PM each night in Fowler Hall. Admission is $2.50 for students and $3.50 for the general public. For more info, call (765)494-8976.

• Australian newspapers are claiming that Jay & Bob will indeed hit theaters a week earlier now, January the 24th. At this point, no one knows for SURE which date the film will be out, but hopefully you’ll be able to catch it in a week there, rather than two.
• Those cool View Askew Mac OS X icons (http://www.newsaskew.com/images/macicons.gif) are now available in their new permanent location in the Downloads section at MacMerc.com. Check them out if you’re a MAC user. There’s also some new icons based on the Clerks cartoon on the way from the author, as well. We’ll let you know when they’re finished.
• Some new MP3 tunes are going around on the various music search engines that reference View Askew. One that was spotted is called “Silent Bob” by a band called Luke Ski (www.lukeski.com). Another we’ve got here is called “Kevin Smith” from a band called Blame It On Luke. Check it out HERE. Dunno if the Lukes in question are the same dude or not, but it’s an odd coincidence.
• E! News Daily ran a piece on the Sundance Festival today. Rounding out their look back was Kevin, whom they said “turned Sundance on its ear” with his submission of Clerks. They showed a clip of Jeff and Brian from Clerks (Where Randal wants to borrow Dante’s car to go to Big Choice Video), and mentioned J&SBSB and showed a clip where Jay, Bob and Brodie dance to the Chasing Amy music inside of Brodie’s Sceret Stash.
• On Wednesday, January 30th at 9 pm, Illinois State University’s (Normal, Illinois) Braden Auditorium is going to be screening J&SBSB for free! A last chance for midwesterners to see it before the DVD hits.
