• With the Jay & Bob DVD on the way this month, Entertainment Weekly has taken another look at the film, writing a new review and comparing it to the last. While a lot of flicks do worse the second time around, they still love Jay & Bob as much as they did theatrically, and give the flick another glowing review (and huge props to Mewes as well). • IGN.com has named the J&SBSB DVD as thier pick of Top DVD for February. Check the full list out HERE. The one error we believe is that this article claims the MTV spots are on there, and we don’t believe that they are.
• In case you’re got a ton of extra cash, one of the Santa suits that Affleck wore in Reindeer Games is up for sale at Ebay.
• Ming posted Jason Lee’s “Evil is an Abstract” speech/clip from Dogma’s deleted material up at View Askew, now available with full production audio for the first time. Check it out HERE.
• The Mr. Cranky website has now reviewed all 5 of Kevin’s flicks. This site makes a point of totally hating and skewering every flick it reviews, purposefully. Read them at the following links : Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

• Kerrang (Life Is Loud) Magazine had published the results of the “Karrang Awards – readers poll 2001”. Here are the results of the Best Film category, with Jay & Bob coming in at third and beating some big flicks!

• At the end of critic Jeffrey Wells’ best/worst list, in the pile called “Decent, Respectable, Worth A Sit” he gives Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back a positive nod. Check the article out HERE.
• We recently mentioned Empire magazine’s picking Mallrats for a top spot in their online poll – The flick came in at number 24 of the top 100 movies of Australian’s favorites. Star Wars was number one.

• We’re now happy to make available the scans of Kevin’s new Arena article! In this edition, Kevin breaks some new ground again, by taking the third installment of his very young column to print two messages from readers, one positive, one negative, and to respond (the mails themselves comprise of almost 75% of the column and are obviously unedited). • The second day of AICN’s Vulgarthon report is available online now right HERE. This one’s much shorter than the last, and does feature a transcript of Affleck’s phone message to the folks in attendance, as well as a new Q&A with Jeff Anderson about “Now You Know”.

• Mallrats/J&SBSB alum Shannen Doherty (who Kevin told a very interesting story about at Vulgarthon regarding he and her getting along again) has remarried.
• The “Heroes of Black Comedy: Chris Rock” special with the clip of Kevin & Dogma will rerun Saturday morning on Comedy Central at 8:00 AM EST and PST.

• Good news, everyone! • Dark Horizons has announced “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” as their DVD pick of the month for February.
• The infamous Mallrats TV edit will air on the FX cable network tomorrow (Wednesday). Check your local listings for the time (It’s airing at noon pacific time, so check early). If you’ve never seen the butchery on this flick, and would also like to see some of the deleted bits re-incorporated, don’t miss it.
• “Heroes of Black Comedy: Chris Rock,” which aired yesterday on Comedy Central, included a brief interview with Kevin Smith accompanied by a clip from Dogma. Sorry for the late notice on that one.
• According to the Rutgers Daily paper, The Targum, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back will be showing at the Busch Campus Center and the Rutgers Student Center tonight (2/5) at 8 PM, with free giveaways, calendars, and general film info.

• We’re back after a Superbowl weekend break — Today’s update should catch up everything that’s been happening, though it’s been a generally slow period. There will be a lot more to talk about later in the month with the Jay & Bob and Drawing Flies DVD releases, the appearance of the new Green Arrow supervillian, and more as Kevin creeps ever closer to pre-production of Jersey Girl. We’ll be here to cover it all from start to finish. Until then, let’s catch up on what’s been going on over the weekend and today. Here ya go:

• Vulgar is now set for an NY/LA/SF release on April 26th. The rest of the release schedule will likely be set after they see how it performs in those markets.
• In an interview available HERE, Brad Meltzer discusses what he’ll be doing when he takes over from Kevin as Green Arrow writer.
• DVD News: The Region 2 UK Chasing Amy DVD is now out, as an HMV exclusive. It costs £17.99. In other news, it appears that Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy have been repackaged in Canada under a single Jersey Trilogy set. It doesn’t look like you get a special case for all 3, and the versions of the films are the exact same DVDs out currently, but this could be a way to save some bread if you need the whole set. Check out their listing at the Future Shop website HERE.
• Australians love Mallrats! The next issue of the Australian “Empire” magazine sent out an ad for the next issue, available in Wednesday. On it, it promotes the top 100 films of all time, of which Mallrats gets quite a mention: They picked the flick as their FAVORITE COMEDY OF ALL TIME! Wow. Good stuff there and quite an honor.
• Jay Mewes appears in photos and a small quote from this men’s fashion magazine article about the comeback of Pony athletic gear. Photos are above, and here’s the short quote:

“Jason Mewes, the actor from Jay and Silent Bob fame, says he wears Pony because he likes “the old-school style. It’s comfy and looks cool.”

• Just in case you’re interested in seeing how they translate, this site has some Jay & Silent Bob comics in POLISH, which was done to promote the film in Polish cinemas. Interesting to see, anyway.
• The Joe Merrick Armada creates silly songs that incorporate samples from various Kevin Smith projects, such as deleted scenes and DVD commentaries. You can check out their site HERE. “Going to New Jersey”, for example, combines samples from Dogma with classic lines from the movie “Fletch”.
• eJay’s opened back up, and even eBay has some interesting items – This shirt was only given to Mallrats cast and crew! Check it out HERE.

• Here’s a few photos of the Affleck brothers & Matt Damon from Sundance 2002, who were there to promote Matt’s new movie “Gerry”, which he wrote with Casey Affleck and Gus Van Sant (who also directed).
• Just a few more appearances of Jay & Bob projected on the big screen before it hits video – Illinois State University in Normal, Il is showing J&SBSB today, February 1st at 10:00 PM and Saturday, February 2 at 7:00 PM at Capen Cinema. It’ll cost ya 2 bucks.
