- George Carlin’s updated timeline at his official site (georgecarlin.com) now indicates:
Filming “Jersey Girl,” Kevin Smith’s new film for Miramax. Playing Ben Affleck’s father. Largest acting role so far. Fairly dramatic part. To be released in early 2003.
- Diamond is now previewing the t-shirts based on the Mallrats comic book covers. UK fans might also be interested in this page which advertises a pre-order for the UK version of Jay & Bob on DVD (not to mention season one of one of the best shows on TV last season, “24” — What a finale that show had!).
- Well, that Australian release of the Jay & Bob DVD is here (read a review if ya like) and, while not ALL the extras are on there, they DID get the commentary track, a rarity for that country.
- We’ve got the scans of the Affleck stuff from Bigraphy now, hopefully clear enough for you to read. Click above for larger versions.
- Speaking of that Biography magazine, a new shot (above) of Jason Lee and Julia Stiles from their upcoming “A Guy Thing” also appears in the issue.
- This site apparently allows you to make lego creations of your own virtually, which someone used to make a lego-like Jay & Bob (seen above).

- Kevin, Jen, and Harley attended the Powerpuff Girls movie premiere last week, and WireImage yet again has a couple of nice shots of the them at their site.
- By far the most popular scoop today — The Daredevil teaser and official site www.thedaredevilmovie.com are now online. If you caught Minority Report this weekend, you may have seen it there as well. The flick definitely looks dark and rather cool, those with this early of a teaser it’s hard to say what’s to come. We’ll be lightly covering the film due to Affleck’s involvement and Kevin’s cameo, though not as extensively as, say, Jersey Girl. If you’ve missed any of the cool publicity shots from the film, this site seems to have a lot of them as well.
- Here’s the text from Jason Lee’s “It-List” blurb that appeared in this week’s Entertainment Weekly (mentioned earlier last week).
- We’ve also got the text of that excellent O’Halloran article we mentioned. Here’s a snippet:
For after he starred as Dante Hicks in Kevin Smith’s 1994 cult film, “Clerks,” O’Halloran has had a steady stream of offers. That includes one from New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch, where he opens in “Panama” this weekend.
This time, his character is hardly a put-upon clerk at a Monmouth County convenience store. Instead, in Michael T. Folie’s new comedy, he’s a dentist who bears such a strong resemblance to Jesus Christ that his patients begin to believe that he’s the Messiah.
Check the whole piece out HERE.
- Which recurring Kevin Smith character are you? Take this quiz and find out!
- The latest issue of Biography magazine features Affleck, with mentions of Mallrats, Chasing Amy, & Dogma. If anyone’s got scans or text of that stuff, please send it on.
- Fans of Joey Lauren Adams might want to check out a new page dedicated to her right HERE.
- Finally today, this local commercial for a used videogame store put out a HILARIOUS commercial that any fan of Clerks: The Cartoon just has to see. You’ll love it. Enjoy.
What’s Kevin’s Top Secret Comic Project?
- We’ve been holding onto this one in hopes to learn more, but alas, it’s just going to be something that’s whispered about for a while — During Marvel’s talk at a recent comic show in the UK, Joe Quesada said that one of their editors is currently working with Kevin on a top secret project that ISN’T Spider-Man…and that’s all he would say. Could it be the much rumored Daredevil hardcover sequel to “Guardian Angel”? Time will tell, we’ll be watching for this one…
Black Cat/Spidey — Four Pages & Cover Online!
- Could this one be Kevin’s best selling project yet? It’s sure looking to be a cool book, and one you just can’t miss owning a copy of. If these 4 steamy pages don’t get ya wanting more, we’re not sure what will — “Spiderman/Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #1” hits store shelves everywhere next week. Story by, of course, Kevin Smith, and way cool artwork by Terry and Rachel Dodson. Thanks to Comics Continuum for these excellent captures.

- Here’s some exclusive stills from Jay Mewes’ latest project that we brought up a few weeks back — A rock video for the group “Powder”. The video is for a song called “Up Here”. The video was directed by Stuart Acher, and co-produced by Scott Kramer and Khene Tan. In the video, which can be described as a live action comic book, Jay plays the leader of group of bank robbers. The video is currently in post-production. You can check out them out at powdermusic.com. Some stills of the gang and Mewes in action can be seen above!
- A big article appears in today’s Star-Ledger “Ticket” section — It’s all about Brian O’Halloran and his new play,”Panama”. The piece is mostly about his career as an actor, mentioning stuff such as Kevin’s firing the original actor cast as Dante to replace him with Brian. If anyone’s got this article translated to text for us to post here, please pass it on.
- The always gossipy “Page Six” is reporting that Affleck had a big stuffed Scooby Doo delivered to Damon after that flick beat his “The Bourne Identity” at the box office last weekend. By the way, each of those films are good in their own right, completely different ends of the spectrum, but both enjoyable.
- As a followup to the Shannon Elizabeth wedding news yesterday, fans of hers who might like to see her in person on “Last Call with Carson Daily” should visit her official website (http://www.shannonelizabeth.com/home.html) for details. She’ll also be taping Conan Tuesday (the show will air that night). Finally, you can catch her on Politically Incorrect on ABC TONIGHT.
- A new website called meetup.com invites folks to get together online in the hopes of meeting monthly in person. The only director they feature so far is Kevin. Meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month – the first for August 6th. If you’re in the area, you may want to check it out. Surf over for more info.

- A while back, Wizard’s Edge sponsored a contest, which consisted of drawing two comic pages and a lucky winner would have their pages printed in a ‘Tales of the Askew’ comic to be published through Image comics. With Kevin going to Marvel exclusively now, we’re not sure what will become of all the entires, but if they’re as cool as this one that Rick sent us, it’d sure be cool to pool them all up somewhere once the contest is officially over! Check out Rick’s cover and page design above. Some quality work there, for sure. If anyone with Wizard’s Edge or elsewhere knows what’s up with this contest, we’d sure be curious to know.
- Entertainment Weekly is releasing their IT list for 2002, and Jason Lee is listed as “IT Director’s Actor”. A preview with a coment from Kevin himself can be found HERE.
- Rejoice! Clerks: The Cartoon creative genius Chris Bailey has placed that hilarious “Heroes” animation online at his website for your viewing pleasure. You can check out this great mini-flick at http://www.majordamage.org. Thanks, Chris!
- Trade Federation have a behind-the-scenes QuickTime movie available, which follows Kevin as he films those Hasbro commercials for their Star Wars games. A couple shots from the set are above as well.
- Congrats to Jay & Bob co-stars Shannon Elizabeth and and Joe Reitman, who tied the knot over the weekend. She’s still looking for those gas masks for her dogs…
- Check out this funny little net comic lampooing Affleck’s recent non-stop promotional stints.
- Yesterday’s Access Hollywood ran a ‘Daredevil’ piece, with Affleck describing the character. They showed him in action in costume, along with a sia being thrown at him and the DD logo on fire on the ground. They also showed Elektra, Bullsye, and Kingpin, as well as what they will look like in costume. The flick looks quite dark and ominious, hopefully it’ll be one of the best comic book flicks since the original Batman.
- Matt Damon is scheduled to appear on Charlie Rose tonight, 6/20.
- Finally today, here’s a cool modified version of the View Askew website splash page designed by Chris Bailey. Download a copy here or at Files Askew to use as your official PC/Mac desktop!
Liv Tyler In “Jersey Girl” Negotiations!
- According to Thursday’s Hollywood Reporter, Liv Tyler might be joining the cast which already features Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, and George Carlin. This would also mark her first flick with Affleck since “Armageddon”. This also marks the first we’ve heard of the “Maya” character, “a video store clerk who has a significant impact on Ollie”. Interesting stuff. Here’s the story:
Liv Tyler is in negotiations to join Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez in Miramax Films’ “Jersey Girl” for filmmaker Kevin Smith. Production is slated to begin Aug. 12 in Philadelphia. The project reteams Affleck and Tyler, who worked together on the 1998 feature “Armageddon.” Smith wrote the project, which is about a man named Ollie Trinke (Affleck) and the effects a new wife (Lopez) and 6-year-old daughter have on his seemingly full life. Tyler plays Maya, a video store clerk who has a significant impact on Ollie. George Carlin also stars as Affleck’s father. Scott Mosier of Smith’s View Askew Prods. is producing “Jersey,” which kicked into high gear last month after Affleck and Lopez decided to team for a second time, following a collaboration on the upcoming Revolution Studios feature “Gigli” (HR 5/21). Tyler, repped by CAA, most recently starred in the blockbuster feature “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.” She also will star in the next two installments of the “Rings” trilogy: “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King.” (Zorianna Kit)

- Since Milton-Bradley is a local company there, The Union News in Springfield Mass had an article on Kevin directing the ads for the Star Wars board games we’ve been discussing (”Epic Duels” and “The Game of Life: A Jedi’s Path”). The newspaper had a photo of him directing the ads, which we don’t have a scan of, but you can check out the story at their site. Lots of cool info on the games themselves if you’re curious.
- If you want to read a text version of that Affleck/Damon article we posted the other day, The Toronto Star has it on their website.
- Project Greenlight is hittin DVD soon, and according to Disney’s site, the set, which includes the complete Stolen Summer movie, the show, and extras, will retail for $69.99:
- Here’s a few cool images — They show the movie poster for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with a famous Berlin landmark, the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedatchtnis-Kirche, in the background. The church was bombed during the war.
- Matt Damon was on NPR’s Fresh Air today. Streaming audio of the interview is on the web HERE. Kevin’s been on the show twice as well, you might recall. The Damon interview is quite good, almost an hour long and very in-depth. If you’re a fan of his, you’ll want to give it a listen.
