  • The weekly column at Bikkit.com features a blurb regarding the author’s run-in with Kevin at the DVD Premiere Awards:
Dejected, I returned to the back of the stage to see what else I could do. As if it was meant to be, Kevin and I crossed paths again. Like the band girl determined to ask out the football star, there was no stopping me this time. I caught him while practicing his speech to introduce the Weinsteins for a special award. I mentioned my hometown and its proximity to his, he mentioned how he used to ice skate there. That, my friends, is called building repoire.

Spending all of my time up until this point too worried about my “in”, I didn’t have a second question ready. Thinking back to a rumor I had heard the other day about Vulgarthon in L.A., I asked about its validity. He confirmed that it was a pretty good possibility and that with all the requests he gets for it, it’s probably going to happen.

We’re sure this has fans split down the middle, but we can understand an L.A. thon for sure. First off, a whole new fanbase will finally have the chance to attend one of these things without breaking the bank on a plane ticket. And we’re sure that Red Bank will never be forgotten, and that fans here will have another chance to get together again soon as well. We east-coasters can’t take ALL the fun now, can we? But keep in mind, nothing is certain yet, this is all just talk, and we will of course immediately let you know when anything becomes official. With the next thon still almost a year off, we figure there’s still plenty of time to decide — Maybe they’ll even go bi-coastal with it next time.

  • We’d like to offer our congratulations to Jason Lee, who announced his engagement earlier this week at the premiere of “A Guy Thing”. IMDB reports:
Almost Famous star Jason Lee used the Hollywood premiere of his latest film A Guy Thing on Tuesday night to announce his engagement to actress Beth Riesgraf. The actor, who divorced first wife Carmen Lee last year, is wasting no time in heading down the aisle again – the couple are planning to wed later this year. A delighted Lee told reporters he knew Riesgraf was the girl of his dreams on their first date. He explains, “The day we met we took a road trip up to Big Sur in California – we had a five-day-long first date.”
  • More Lee news: Jason made a brief phone appearence on the Bob & Tom show yesterday. They discussed his new movie “A Guy Thing”, and also talked a bit about Kevin (at one point, one of the hosts asked Jason “So, do you ever get tired of Kevin Smith calling you telling you how good he is?” Jason’s response was “I never get tired of him calling to tell me he has another movie for me”).
  • A new promotional photo has been released from “Jersey Girl”, featuring Affleck and Lopez. The pic has already appeared on Dark Horizons, JoBlo, and Latino Review, and other sites. This is now the official summary Miramax is using for the film’s plotline:
Ollie Trinke (BEN AFFLECK) is young and at the top of his game as a music promoter. He is both a workaholic and a silver-tongued expert at manipulating the press. At a company Christmas party, Ollie meets Gertrude Steiney (JENNIFER LOPEZ), a book editor for a New York publishing house. They are instantly attracted to each other, and begin a whirlwind romance that changes the course of his personal and professional life.

Be sure to check out our entire photo gallery from the film over at Exit 37.

  • This sounds like a BLAST! In Belfast, Northern Ireland, Waterfront Hall’s film club, for one night only will be showing Blazing Saddles and Clerks on the big screen, in a bar-type environment (smoking and drinking encouraged!). Click HERE for details. Anyone got any plane tickets to Ireland lying around?
  • ‘Clerks’ is the midnight movie this weekend at the Inwood Theatre in Dallas, Texas. It will show Friday and Saturday nights at 12:15 AM.
  • A very small reference to Kevin’s DVD commentary tracks was made in the first frame of this online comic called “Hatchetman”.
  • Jason Mewes made a brief appearance over at the WWWBoard, confirming to fans that yes, he is STILL with us. Of interest, Jay said: “I got a new movie in the works, just keep your eyes open.”.
  • And finally, to kick off the weekend, here’s a bizarre link for ya. Something tells us that Affleck may be steering clear of Lawton for a while…
