- The fantastic Arclight theater in Los Angeles is having an April Fool’s Day screeing of Dogma with “Kevin Smith Q&A” afterwards. Now, here’s where we’re a bit unsure — Do they mean a LIVE Q&A with Kevin or will they just be showing the Evening With… DVD? It IS April Fool’s Day after all. The Arclight theater is expensive, but rated as one of the best in the city. You get a reserved seat, more room and it caters to true movie lovers. They don’t show ads before the movie, and it’s set up that you won’t kill your neck sitting in even the front row. Not a bad seat in the house, and a bargain at only $14…Even if they ARE only showing the Kevin Q&A instead of him being there live. We should have more information regarding this event very soon. In the meantime, more information can be found at their site (though tix can’t yet be purchased). Watch NA for more info soon.

View Askew NewsBites™
- Silly us. We totally forgot that our 2002 View Askew holiday card had a GREAT shot of those Mallrats inaction figures. A much better shot/scan of this very card is now available at the View Askew site or by clicking above.
- We’ve received word of a View Askew spoof movie that’s now online, called “Clarks”. We’ve yet to watch it as it’s a HUGE download, but we hear it lampoons all the View Askew films AND the Clerks cartoon series as well. The film appears at its entirety at the Abyssmal Entertainment website.
- A new trailer for that Orgazmo DVD that Kevin did a phone-in commentary segment for is now available HERE. The disc is still on track for a fall release with Universal.

- Kevin hit the WWWBoard recently and answered a ton of questions, so be sure to stop over there and check everything out. We didn’t spot anything of major news interest that hasn’t already been reported, but it was a good run, and recommended reading. Also, Kevin posted up a few photos from Japan, including an INCREDIBLY COOL Japanese Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back poster (we NEED a couple of those!!!) and a J&SBSB ring that he mentioned would be available for purchase soon. Save those pennies!
- In Star Wars.com’s Ask Jocasta Nu section, Jocasta answers Randal’s question to George Lucas during the trial on Clerks: The Animated Series.
- Jason Lee has been nominated for the “Best Celebrity DJ” category at the DANCESTAR AMERICA awards.
- Wanna see a Buddy Christ get down and funky? The big BC dances to kick off this video.
- And finally today, yet again, like Brodie says, these kids have to learn to FEAR and RESPECT the escalator!

Mallrats Clerks Inaction Figure Photos!
- These things continue to impress, and are still one of our all-time favorite ideas for View Askew merchandise. The first photo of the 2nd series of Inaction Figures, “Mallrats”, is above. This appeared at Toyfare 2003. Thanks to Action-Figure.com for the shots! You’ll also find new photos of the Clerks figures in all their inactive glory. The Mallrats line will feature Steve Dave, Walt, Silent Bob, Jay, Brodie, Willam, and Renee. Love these things!
More University Of Minnesota Details!
- Apparently there is so much buzz about Kevin’s appearance that the Univeristy of Minnesota wants to make it clear what their ticket policy will be for the event: The first week of March, tickets would go on sale for the STUDENTS ONLY. Late in the second week of March, remaining tickets (if any) will go on sale to the general public. We’ll let you know when this happens.

- With the recent news of Lee possibly NOT being cast in Fletch Won, an online petition has been set up, asking folks on the net to sign and show their approval for Lee. We urge you to sign. Get going!
- Home Shopping Network is selling a “Mighty Marquee Signed Comic Set #2”, consisting of 10 signed comic books. The site doesn’t say this, but apparently a viewer caught the set for sale live on the HSN, and it was mention that one of these books features Kevin’s signature on the same page as Stan Lee. It’s a little pricey, but a very cool collectible. We imagine you could call them and get more info on the set if you need to confirm this before purchasing. If anyone can confirm or deny this, let us know.
- A review from a test screening of “Dreamcatcher” is up at AICN. The reviewer gives some nice props to Jason Lee’s performance in the flick. Sounds like one worth paying to see, especially since that cool new animated Matrix short will play before the film.
- Affleck appeared on ESPN this morning and last night, answering sports-related questions in something they call “On the Hot Seat.”It’s a short segment where they ask him something quick and he gives short answers. Some were word association like “Q:Steinbrenner A: Idiot”, “Q:Carlton Fisk A:My hero” and others were questions like “Q: Whose life is more in a fish bowl – Jennifer Lopez or Tiger Woods? A: Jennifer.” At the end he even taunted them saying something like “Is that it? Is that all you got?”.
- UK Askew is holding a fairly big Merchandise competition to celebrate their 1st year online. The contest is open to UK visitors only.
- Dogma is #4 on Madblast’s list of top 10 Matt Damon Films:
- A disc review of the Region 4 Clerks DVD confirms that this release does indeed have a better transfer, stating “the R4 offers a 16×9 enhanced PAL transfer — that’s already a big advantage for the R4, but then we add in the fact that the R4 is a cleaner transfer, with fewer film artefacts and no aliasing, moire, or shimmer — it’s a clean KO win for the R4”.
- A Clerks reference pops up at fark.com again, this time in photos of Daytona driver Rusty Wallace. See if you can spot it.
- And finally today, some spam that showed in up the NA mailbox today reported that newsaskew.com is now ranked as the 285,266th most visited site on the Internet. In the grand scheme of things, guess that’s not TOO bad!
Two Tidbits From Kevin!
- Here’s the latest from Kevin at the WWWBoard, concerning two questions that we thought you’d be interested to hear the answers to:
Kevin: Never was a secret. The deal just hadn’t been closed yet. Jim Venable. And he’s doing a kick-ass job.
Q: Are you even remotely thinking about what you’re going to do with ‘Fletch Won’ yet, or is that on the ‘backburner’, as the elite say?
Kevin: It’s come down to a biiiiiig disagreement over who should play the young Irwin Fletcher. I say Lee. Harvey says no. We’ll see how it
all shakes out.
