  • Comic Book Resources brings us this very cool info on a new Green Arrow hardcover, covering the rest of Kevin’s run, coming this June from DC:
GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE HARDCOVER

In his first story arc on the new GREEN ARROW series (collected in GREEN ARROW: QUIVER), fan-favorite writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Jersey Girl) resurrected the legendary DC hero to huge critical and popular success. He follows it up here with GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE – a harrowing 128-page hardcover featuring a strange new villain stalking the Emerald Archer.

Stylishly rendered by artists Phil Hester & Ande Parks, THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE puts Oliver Queen and his closest loved ones directly in the madman’s bullseye. Plus, the relationship between Ollie and his son/successor Connor Hawke is explored, while Mia – the young girl whom Green Arrow saved – flirts with becoming a new “Speedy.” Also, will Ollie rekindle his romance with Dinah Lance, a.k.a. the Black Canary? And what happens when former JLA rivals Green Arrow and Hawkman reunite?

This volume collects GREEN ARROW #11-15, including the original painted covers by Matt Wagner, and features an introduction by Hester and a special sketchbook section showcasing his and Parks’s dynamic art.

GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE is a 128-page hardcover arriving incomic-book stores June 25 with a cover price of $19.95 U.S.

Yep, this one’s a must-have! Don’t forget to look for the coolest superhero ever, the short-lived “Buckeye”, from our own Harrisburg, PA!

  • Chris Rock cites Kevin first when asked about influential directors he’s worked with in a Cinema Confidential interview:
What directors that you’ve worked with have influenced you the most?

Kevin Smith is a close friend of mine; he’s been really good.

  • And while we’re at it, here’s what Babylon 5 creator and current comic writer J. Michael Straczynski said about Kevin in a recent Q&A section of his e-newsletter:
I’ve only spoken to Kevin once, at a con, where he was signing. I came up and introduced myself. He blinked at me for a second, then said, “Huh. You’re taller than I thought you’d be.” And that was about it.
  • So, maybe now that Brett Ratner’s off the list to direct Superman, perhaps they’ll bring Kevin on board? Hey, if they’re considering him to write Daredevil 2, why not dust off his ‘ol Supes script and bring him back in? Warners, are ya listening?
