  • In the Entertainment Weekly for May 23, 2003 (issue #711), they list the top 50 cult movies. Clerks made the list at #29.
    Here’s what the article says:
Smith’s debut, about the day in the life of two service-industry suburbanites, was made for $27,575. It’s hard to tell where all that money went, But the cruddy lensing and muddy sound actually enhance the experience. This spitball of nonstop scatology and pop-cult obsessiveness— what are the ethical implications of killing independent contractors aboard the Death Star?– feels like a bootleg copy of an adolescent mind. Signature line: “I’m not even supposed to be here today.”
  • “Comic Book: The Movie” will be released not in June, but sometime in the Fall. We hear Kevin steals the show in his scene for the film.
  • Just an interesting little tidbit: Apparently this intern who claims to have had sex with JFK lived “mostly in the Red Bank area”.
  • Comedy Central has a Prime Time Glick short/promo featuring a parody of IFC. The punchline is, “and as always, on Friday night Clerks!”
