Photos: 4 Kevin Smith Con Exclusive Inactions!

February 21st @ 7:28 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin revealed four more of the exclusive inaction figures that will be available ONLY at comicons at which he is appearing this year. Each figure is Kevin’s likeness, wearing a sports jersey from the town represented (and of course, the number 37). We never know how long these figures are going to last, and they’re limited run…In other words, once they’re gone, they’re gone. So, we recommend you pay Kevin a visit this year in San Diego, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia for your chance at one of these fun View Askew collectibles. We’re sure Kevin will sign as much as time permits. Visit our Upcoming Events page for more information on when you can get to these shows and bring one (or more) of these bad boys into your growing inaction figure collection. The first batch is expected to show up from Korea just in time for the March 18th Los Angeles appearance. For us, it’s just no question — These are a must have!

News & Rumors From Wondercon!

February 21st @ 7:25 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Keith Richardson, Jon Anderson

  • Anytime Kevin comes to town, there’s always news, reports, and rumors flying around the web. Following Kevin’s visit to Wondercon for a
day last weekend, many of the folks on hand had a grand ‘ol time getting their swag signed, chatting it up with Kevin and, of course, attending the
always-entertaining Q&A session. First up, this very interesting little tidbit on the Mallrats X DVD, according to a conversation Kevin had with a fan
(who sent this report our way):
I talked to Kevin briefly today at Wondercon as he was signing my sweet Big Ass Jay and Silent Bob figures. I asked him what would be on the upcoming
Mallrats X DVD, because the current release is already packed with content. He said that Mallrats is the only one of his films that he didn’t edit so, he
was thinking about getting the footage and doing his own cut of the movie. I asked if he would do a new commentary for that cut and he said yes. Kevin
also said that he would like to do a new retrospective and throw on some other stuff that hasn’t been put on DVD yet.

A totally NEW cut of Mallrats? Wow!!! We’d love to see some alternate angles and takes on the film for sure. Could be a real treat (and, dare we say,
another DVD first for View Askew?). Might take a lot of time and effort to make that happen, but it sure is an exciting prospect.

Also, this report filed over at Aint It Cool featured a short paragraph on a couple of the new anecdotes in
Kevin’s arsenal that came up at the Q&A:

I got to the Kevin Smith panel a bit late…. but I have to give a quick run down of what he proposed would be his version of “The Passion Of The Christ”…… It would start with Jesus being put on trial and going to his death, carrying his cross…….but just before he could be nailed to said cross, ninjas would come flying onto the scene and save Jesus’ ass last minute in a beautiful ballet of ninja action…… only to be revealed as Jay and Silent Bob….. the rest of the movie would be Jesus trying to get a job, having no skills to speak of…… He had us all laughing at this point…… Now, I’m no big fan of Smith’s….. Dogma being his only film that really got me going….. but, man!!! Can he ever work a crowd…… from talking about his brother’s homosexuality in such a loving and crass way, to his paise of Jason Mewes for his sobriety….. I have to admit, I kinda fell in love with the fella.

Got anything about Wondercon to add? TALK BACK and let us know!

(1pm PST). If you missed it the first time, here’s a good chance to catch it.
  • We’ve been getting a few blips in the email on Constantine, that new Hellblazer-based Keanu Reeves flick that came out this week. Apparently,
in the film, a possible reference (when discussing sidekicks) is made to Jay & Bob by Chas, John’s sidekick played by Shia LaBeouf. Yahoo’s Movie Mom also
mentions Dogma in the last paragraph of her review of the film.
  • Afroman (best known for Jay & Bob’s “Because I Got High”) will DJ this week in Lexington, KY. Check him out Wednesday night at the Short Street Lounge.
    $10, doors open at 8pm. Info, www.shortstreetlounge.com.
