July 5th @ 4:58 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Will Wilkins, Marx, Alonso Duralde

  • We’ve got two fantastic new t-shirts now shipping from The Stash, sure to turn heads and start conversations anywhere you go. First up, the Brodie “Chocolate Covered Pretzel” shirt. The image comes from the Mallrats inaction figure blister card. Available in all sizes, $18 and it’s yours.

Also at that same price, Loki’s “Mass Genocide” t-shirt. A great quote, and again, that awesome blister card art, this time from the Dogma inaction line. Show your View Askew fandom AND love/hate for soccer in one simple gesture. Get ‘em today!

  • Dogma makes a list of controversial religious pics in this New York Daily News piece today. And it’s in good company, we must say.
  • If you had trouble with the larger filesize of that Vancouver radio bit with Kevin from late last week, a smaller version is now up, courtesy of Radio Askew.
  • Seems the View Askew influence has spread its way onto Australian reality television. Marx fills us in:
On tonight’s episode of Big Brother Uncut (Australia) a contestant Glenn after jokingly asking a fellow male housemate to give him a blowjob asked him to say “Oh what a lovely tea party” afterwards. Not that big a deal, but funny to see on free to air television nonetheless.

Blog Updates Continue…

  • Kevin’s ripping through the blog updates now, with more days online, including the start of July, and the end of the month of June. The mysterious mid-June period remains unfilled, though we assume that there’s drama to be written and revealed there in the time to come (finding the right words for that might be tougher, or, Kevin may just have a lot he wants to write).

Summarizing the news, seems that all is well with Kevin, family, and friends, as the Vancouver filming experience continues. The Affleck situation, which COULD account for some of this drama, also seems to be under control, and doing better. And by the time this trip is over, we’re guessing Kevin will be hitting the professional Texas Hold’Em circuit with all the play he’s been getting in.

In movie news, here’s a tidbit on “Fletch Won” that caught our eye:

On the way back to the hotel, I call my agent Phil to talk about the future of “Fletch Won”. We’re kind of at an impasse with the flick, inasmuch as I see the flick as more of a straight adaptation of the book, and Harvey and the producer David List seem to want to make something closer to the Chevy Chase version, with more sight gags and disguises. I told Harvey I was gonna do another draft of the script and turn it in by the end of “Catch”, but after re-reading the script, there’s nothing I want to change. I see the flick along the lines of Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight”, but aside from me, Mos, Phil Benson, and Chris Moore (who, at one point, was in line to produce it with us), everybody else wants to do a version that’s more commercial. Chris Tucker’s name has been bandied about as Fletch on more than one occasion – which is all well and good, but I don’t have much interest in making that version of “Fletch Won.” Being told I couldn’t cast Jason Lee two years ago was hard enough, but now we’re at a point at which Harvey and I aren’t even on the same page in terms of tone or story-flow. So I tell Phil that I gotta go with the gut on this one and stick to my script, as-is. If they want to go another way, without me, I’ll understand.

Our opinion? We hope Kevin gets to make the flick he wants, with the cast he wants. Looking back at all the great casting choices Kevin has made, all the way to the start of his career, we’re hopeful this is a battle that he wins again. Could you imagine Clerks without O’Halloran and Anderson? Or an “Amy” without Affleck, Lee, and Adams? No way. We’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, it looks like it’ll be “Ranger Danger” following Clerks 2, for Dimension. And we’re DAMN cool with that, too. Especially if a casting rumor we heard a long, long time ago comes true…

New Stash Westwood Clippage!

July 5th @ 4:56 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Mattt Potter

  • Three more brilliant montages have gone up, courtesy of Mattt Potter and Movies Askew — These are the clip reels that you can see in person when attending Stash West. They run on those beautiful plasma televisions throughout the store. But hey, we figured, share the wealth! In case you’ve yet to pop into the joint for yourself (and shame on you, if that’s the case!), you can now watch them from the comfort of your own computer chair, in brilliant Quicktime.

The three new clips include two set to music, and one classic retelling of the Mallrats trailer in “Die Hard in a Mall” type of fashion. Brilliant work, all three, and all worth your valuable time.

“ALL YOU CAN EAT”
A crazy EATING compilation of all things Askew.
“GLORY OF LOVE”
Upon completing and sending this out to Papa Smith, he left a message on my machine saying “Mattt Potter I had no idea how gay you really are, you are truly a man after my own heart.” I took it as a compliment I guess.
“Mallrats : Die Hard in a Mall”
One of my favorite things I ever cut for View Askew. Some of you got to see this at Stash Bash, now all of you get to see it here.
