- Looks like more work for Jason Lee during his Earl hiatus, another big screen project…This time, WITHOUT CGI (phew!). TV.com reports :
Jason Lee will film rock-and-roll comedy during show’s hiatus.
My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee is lined up to play as a rock star in the comedy Krater. The movie will film in May, during the actor’s hiatus from his hit show.
Krater takes place in the late-’70s/early-’80s music scene. It follows a rock band of the same name that finds its success in jeopardy after the band’s lead singer reveals secret desires to be a Broadway star.
Lee is also coproducing the film.
Lee previously played as a member of the fictional rock band Stillwater in 2000’s Cameron Crowe film Almost Famous. The actor will next be heard as the voice of Underdog in a film adaptation of the beloved 1960s cartoon.
My Name Is Earl won two Emmys this year. The show, along with The Office, has helped NBC revive its flagging Thursday-night comedy-block fortunes.
Several real-life rock singers have made the transition to the Great White Way. Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach starred in the 2000 Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde, and AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson says he is writing a musical about historical figure Helen of Troy.
- There’s a cheeky reference to the great “Death Star†debate from Clerks in the online comic strip “Candorvilleâ€. The subtle reference starts in this episode, continues into this one , then wraps up here.
- Some View Askew mentions did indeed pop up on Chris Rock’s recent appearance on Bravo’s “Inside the Actor’s Studioâ€. He was asked about Dogma and he spoke about how he got the role, how much Chasing Amy affected him and talked up Kevin quite a bit. Check your local listings for rerun times, Bravo does show these things pretty often. If anyone sees the clippage available online anywhere, do let us know.
