SModimations Have Arrived!

  • We love SModcast just for the audio, but thanks to the genius of StarkToons, a few choice little chunks have been brought to animated life in small snippets. Now, these are going official and becoming another aspect of the awesome official SMod site. “Forgeticus: Part One” now joins the classics “Aquatic Justice” and “The Great One”, bringing the total of animated SMod moments to three — With many more on the way. Stark’s got a talent for choosing some of the most perfect moments to visualize, and some of the results are so hilarious you just can’t help but lose it every single time you watch. This is great stuff, folks.

Almost 5 pure minutes of animated joy for ya, and with at least a part two on the way, there’s even a cliffhanger. Watch, download, retweet, and tell your friends via the new SModimations wing of the SModcast world on the web.

Want to know what it was like to be there in person for the Cleveland SModcast? Schmoker Sense has posted a full report at his blog. Here’s a preview:

…Then they settled into one of the funniest set pieces I have ever heard them do, which was based on an article Kevin had culled from the internet. I won’t spoil it, but make sure and catch the first Cleveland show when they post it over on Smodcast. Scott ended the half hour run with a rant that had Kevin in tears and brought the house down.

In fact, Scott, who had previously expressed fear at the idea of doing a live show, was relaxed and hysterical throughout. He was, without a doubt, the star of the show on this night. However many beers he had consumed, it was exactly the right number.

Halfway through, I decided to make a play. I wandered over to the guys at the door and inquired about availability for the next show.

“No, it’s not sold out,” said the bouncer/ticket taker/Sopranos extra.

Not sold out like this show isn’t sold out, I wondered? And will we have to go outside and to the back of the line again?

The entire report is one of the most detailed we’ve seen, and includes the entire experience including the the before and after of the show. A fun read and a good distraction for the day if yours is going slow. Check it out, and then, see Kevin and Scott live (or Kevin himself) when he/they are in your town.

Check out the new SMerchandise page to show your love and support for the always-free SModcast audio program via the new swag page which features posters, tees, inaction figures, and more. And of course, you could always pick yourself up a Fleshlight, too.

The “Twitter” Report…

  • From the Twitter feed of Kevin Smith, the latest tweets included a long series on the desire to obtain a regular theater/venue in the Los Angeles area that Kevin and Scott could use to host regular live SModcasts, movie screenings during edits, and the like. Sounds like a new mecca on the west coast! No idea on if the idea will come to fruition, though it’s the coolest thing we heard since that View Askew-themed miniature golf course from a month or so back. That, and more, in this mid-week edition of the Twitter Report:

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have arrived! I’m the #GeekAWeek trading card: http://bit.ly/b0sQim Cardback: http://bit.ly/apFESn Very flattered.

ANGELENOS! I’m looking to lease a small, 50 seat venue in the H’wood/Valley area. Why? For THE SMODCAST THEATER. Any leads? (Glengary only.)

Via @samvance “UCB theater” That’s THEIR theater. I want my own for weekly live SModcasts. Shit: with a theater? DAILY morning SModcasts!

Via @BigTree33 “does it need seats?” Bean bags and comfy couches would be better, I’m thinking. Just a cool space for recording/performing.

Via @Opheliac_Lolita “Why not rent out some kind of small warehouse and outfit as you like?” Ooooo… I like the way sNrub thinks!

See, this is what I’m talking about: http://www.workingstage.com/photos_interior.html A nice, small 50-or-so seater. Leasing cheaply.

Look at THIS sexy bitch: http://findlocal.latimes.com/west-l-a/performing-arts/theater/black-box-theatre-los-angeles-theater/photos

Via @david973 “Just for SMods? Or other projects too?” I’d use it for feedback screenings when I’m still in the edit. Pick 50 Tweeps & roll.

With COP OUT, I finally realized my lifelong dream to work with every actor on the ARMAGEDDON poster. Next up: the entire DEEP IMPACT cast.

Via @dmbarnette “bringing smod to rhode island?” SModcast? Not yet. But me? Cumming soon… WITH JOHN WATERS! http://bit.ly/akGDd6 #PTownFF

For the record: the Live SMods will ALL go up. But not in any particular order, and not every week. We’ll save ’em for when we’re SMod-less.

Via @dWorstGamerEver “Kinda bummed the HOB show is sold out.” Still some Standing Room Only tix available: http://viewaskew.com/events/hob/
