  • IGN’s got a nice little report running on Kevin’s involvement in Prince’s Paisley Park celebration. There’s even a long distance photo where the keen eye can catch Kevin at work. You’ll definitely wanna click HERE for a report on the goings-on in Minnesota. Thanks to Steve SHead84417@aol.com at IGN for the news and the mention.
  • Here’s a follow-up to our VULGAR piece the other day regarding its release date – We missed a post from direction Bryan Johnson regarding that very subject. Here ya go:
It was SUPPOSED to be August 24th but was bumped when JSBSB was moved to the same date. My understanding is that Dimension paid off Lion’s Gate so JSBSB wouldn’t fall flat on its ass should it open on the same day against the mighty cinematic juggernaut that is Vulgar. Seriously, I hear it may open the second week of September now so we can ride the media coat tails of JSBSB.

We’ll keep ya posted.

  • Following up on ANOTHER story from last week, according to www.dc-dvd.net, the Dogma Special Edition WILL have RCE (Regional Code Enchancement) on it. This is bad news for those of you outside of the US with all-region DVD players that ya can’t use to get around it. Guess you’ll hafta wait for a region-friendly release. Sorry for the bad news, but hope this can save ya some cash if you didn’t already place an order.
  • iFilm’s running a special feature on the top 10 best and worst summer movie trailers and how about that, the internet exclusive trailer to “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” is number one on the BEST list! Check it out HERE (though they did get their Brodie and Banky mixed up).
  • Wanna know more about Alanis’ role in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? Well…This article still doesn’t confirm the nature of said role, but the exposure continues…

Alanis Morissette Back With Jay And Silent Bob

It seems that letting Alanis Morissette play God is a pretty surefire way of getting into her good books, at least where auteur Kevin Smith is concerned. Apparently she had such a good time playing everyone’s favorite Western deity in the cult filmmaker’s controversial and quirky Dogma a few years ago that she’ll be appearing in his strange world again this summer. This time, she’ll be helping to see the beloved Jay and Silent Bob off into the sunset as they make their final live action appearance.

Smith’s new film, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, will be seeing the lads off in star-studded style. Along with Morissette, stars like Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Rock and Joey Lauren Adams will also be returning to the fold. While some have been confirmed to be reprising their previous Smith roles, the director has refused to confirm whether or not Alanis will once again be tackling omnipotence during her moments on screen.

Chances are that audiences will have to wait until the film’s August 24 release date to find out the nature of Alanis’ appearance.

Thanks to ChartAttack for the story. By the way, word has it that Alanis may not appear in the final version of the film, due to cuts. Whether that will change or not remains to be seen. A lot can happen between now and the end of August.

  • Kevin’s comic works get a nice mention in the latest issue of Sound & Vision Magazine:
“COMIC RELIEF: You’ve seen the movie, but have you read the comics? Writer/Director Kevin Smith has written a handful of hilarious comics based on the Jersey slackers from his film Clerks. Smith has also raised hell for Marvel Comics by resurrecting Daredevil, turning a title that had fallen from grace into a Top 10 seller. He also hits the bulls-eye every month with DC Comics’ recently relaunched Green Arrow. Slated for June is Chasing Dogma (Image Comics), a paperback that bridges the gap between Smith’s Chasing Amy and Dogma feature films (sorry kids – like the movies, this one’s R-rated). Smith’s next flick, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, is due out in August.
  • Finally today, some important news from you planning to catch Jason Lee in Florida for that Chasimg Amy screening we mentioned a while back: The theater where Lee is doing the Q&A has been changed, likely due to the overwhelming response.Instead of being at the ENZIAN THEATRE, he will be at the ANNIE RUSSELL THEATER on the ROLLINS COLLEGE CAMPUS in WINTER PARK. The hotline (407-629-8587) says that STANDBY tickets will be numbered out 45 minutes prior to showtime. If you don’t have a ticket and want one, you might still have a chance!
