- Episode four of the fun “Sucks Less†series has arrived — Yep, it’s Thursday already! In this week’s episode, the UCLA kids cover the topics of “Squirrel Fishing, Film Fest Volunteers, Street Wars, and the devastation of a really bad haircutâ€. Kevin takes a fun detour from the Stash intros and outtros this week, yet contributes a hilarious montage to kick it all off. And, of course the stuff continues to be enticing for a fun weekend for those of you in the spots covered. But what about other parts of the country? Well, that’s where you come in.
You see, Kevin’s also announced a really fun contest — Have you been watching the show and getting the urge to do a piece of your own? Well, your chance to film a segment of your own for the “Sucks Less†series has arrived! How cool is that? Sounds like they want you to be a student to do it, but from anywhere in the country. If you get picked, not only will you have the fame of being a part of “Suck Less with Kevin Smithâ€, but mtvU will pay you $75 bucks on top of it all. Not bad eh? Details from the mtvU site:
If you are a current student who is a purveyor of cool things to do this weekend, this may be your big shot. Kevin and the class are looking for Sucks Less Correspondants to report from Anywhere USA. If you have covered, or are covering a Sucks Less relevant happening and have that footage edited to a segment between 60 and 90 seconds, we want to see it. It just might get included in a future episode of Sucks Less with Kevin Smith. If mtvU uses the piece, you’ll get $75 bucks.

Things to consider: – mtvU wouldn’t air the piece if had music in it that you do not have the rights to.
– Titles would be added by mtvU so send a version without titles.
To be considered for air, you would have to provide guest releases, location releases and materials releases for every person and place appearing in the piece. Any logo or brand name on clothing or otherwise would not be able to be aired.
Only pieces that say where you are and explain clearly what is happening would be considered.
If it’s a one time event that is not happening in other areas of the country, it’s not likely to make the cut. Send any questions to sucksless@mtvu.com
Sometimes it’s tough not to be a student. This would be a blast to take a shot at. Sucks Less continues to be an entertaining 8 minutes week by week. It’s a shame this can’t run forever (but hey, here’s hoping they can do it every semester!). Get over to mtvU and check it out!
