View Askew 5 News & Rumors…

  • Things continue to pop around on the net that drive speculation about what the mysterious “View Askew 5″ will involve, plotwise. We’ve received a few theories through e-mail already, that range from pure speculation to rumors overheard when hanging around in Red Bank. Still, News Askew is unaware of ANY plot details on the film at this time and, even if we were to hear a lot of specifics, we’ll screen any information through the main offices to keep any leaks to a minimum. This doesn’t mean that we won’t be providing in-depth coverage, since we will, we just expect to save a few secrets until the curtain goes up on the final Jay & Bob flick.

Kevin will undoubtedly start revealing the first of the much-anticipated information leaks personally as his “Developing The Monkey” column begins at Psycomic tomorrow. News Askew will be linking to the stories, but we urge you to surf directly over to Psycomic to read them.

The “Monkey” element of the column title has caused great speculation on the movie itself. Will Suzanne, the money that Jay & Bob walked off into the sunset with in Mallrats, to return? Judging from the story Kevin often tells at appearances, probably not. Could be an interesting clue, though.

The Jason Lee interview at Filmforce, which our scoopers wrote to remind us about, ran its final installment recently, in which Lee revealed he would be making two CAMEOS as Banky and Brodie. Many fans had hoped for a flick which would feature Lee, as he’s the favorite, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he and many of the other characters had just a scene or two in the movie, with Jay & Silent Bob as the glue that holds it all together. Kevin himself has said he’s casting some new actors, which would mean less screentime for the existing cast, and has also tightened up the script a bit to make a much shorter film. We’d expect this one to end up somewhere between 90 and 110 minutes, more like Mallrats. With so many characters from the past films to cover, cameos will not only allow things to be wrapped up, but will accomodate folks like Affleck and Lee who have busy filming schedules lined up already. Small roles would allow them a day or two on the set and that’s that.

Again, this is all speculation, and may be totally wrong, but it’s fun considering the possibilities. What do you think? Use the talkbacks to express your opinions.

View Askew 5 coverage will continue here, and probably go full blast after Vulgarthon, so stick around. We’re hoping to again be the authority on the film and make a set visit or two for some exclusive first-hand internet coverage. Stay tuned.
