STAR-TRACKING: At the New York premiere of the upcoming “Scary Movie,” actor Jason Mewes chatted with my Big Apple insider Baird Jones about Mewes’ fave director–Kevin Smith (”Clerks,” “Chasing Amy,” “Mallrats,” “Dogma”). “Everyone says that Kevin made some kind of `Lord of the Rings’ triology of films, starting with `Clerks’ in 1994, then `Mallrats’ . . . and finally `Chasing Amy,’ but to the people in those films [including Mewes] `Chasing Amy’ never seemed to fit. . . . Kevin told me a couple of weeks ago he has come around to thinking that `Chasing Amy’ really wasn’t connected to his first two films in the way he had wanted so he is going to make a proper third film for the triology,” which will include most of the original actors.
