  • Some Dogma news from Brazil: A local movie magazine, SET, printed a four page article praising the movie (the word brilliant is used) and features a small article calling Kevin Smith the real king of the world. Plus a curiosity: special screenings of the movie will feature a short animated movie called “God is Father” on which God and Jesus consult a psychologist in order to solve some generation conficts: “…the Gramado festival winner by Allan Sieber has everything to do with Dogma, messing with the catholic mythology… cursing! God is Father shows a young Jesus wearing a Kiss T-shirt, eternally arguing with his father who minds to much with the sinners and forgets his own son, while God can’t take his son spreading wheat middlings around the living room floor while watching TV. From there, the most blasfemous and funny moment of the national cinema.”. Interesting.
  • Dogma made another Top 10, from critic Mike McGranaghan’s OFCS website:
2. Dogma – That’s right, Kevin Smith’s controversial satire is #2 on my list – and I’m a Catholic! Forget the dust-up for just a minute. Smith has made the rare film that I would call “brave.” He tackled a subject – religion – that most filmmakers shy away from. He thought about his subject with intelligence and humor. And the result? Well, it was poignant and faith-affirming! Dogma is a movie that suggests God loves us despite our flaws (oh, the controversy!) and that faith will get you through hard times. I admit that I’m still miffed at the people who picketed this one. Personally, I applaud Smith for his funny, reverential ode to a loving Creator. Just remember – God would not have created humor if He did not have a sense of it.
  • On Wizard‘s “super poll,” Dogma is listed as one of the options for the question “What was the best comic-related movie this year?” We predict a landslide.
  • Interestingly enough, a website called Checkout.Com is taking pre-orders for Dogma on DVD already. The MSRP is $24.99 (pre-order price is $14.97). A pretty cheap price regardless of what’s on the disc if you ask us. We’re not sure if these guys will honor this price if it changes due to extra content, so order at your own risk HERE.
  • Some interesting Green Arrow news from the Wizard World interview with Joe Quesada:
WW: Are you still working on a Green Arrow project for DC? When is thatgoing to be published?

JQ: That’s just strictly the stuff of rumor. When Kevin gets to it, if I’m available contractually and if DC and Kevin will have me, I would be honored to.
