  • Even though she didn’t appear bottomless in an extra special hidden section of the Mallrats DVD as Kevin joked in the disc’s Easter Egg, we’re still big fans of hers, and this news about her possible appearance in an upcoming vampire flick sounds interesting enough (POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD):
Claire Forlani (”Meet Joe Black”) and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (”Velvet Goldmine”) are in negotiations to star in low-budget vampire picture “Johnny Domino.”

The love story is set in an isolated fishing village. Rhys Meyers will play the title role, a musician who becomes a local phenomenon after being bitten by a vampire. He falls in love with Forlani’s character, also a vampire, and together they fight the village’s evil preacher. In a new twist on “Romeo and Juliet,” they eventually pact to end their eternal lives.

The picture, set to shoot in Europe next year, will be directed by young Irish newcomer Enda Hughes from a script by British writer Max Chipchase. No distributor is believed to be attached.

  • This stuff is always SO much fun to read! An article was published on Virgin.Net surround all the horrible, awful, nastymovies out there…They hit Blair Witch, South Park, and lots more…And of course…
DOGMA — The lowdown: Directed by Chasing Amy film-maker Kevin Smith, this stars Damon and Affleck as two foul-mouthed, homicidal fallen angels scheming to get back into heaven. The problem: In Affleck’s words, the film offers the idea that “Mary and Joseph had sex, and they had a kid, and therefore there’s a female descendant of Christ on earth…who works at an abortion clinic.” Outrageous black comic Chris Rock plays the 13th apostle. Oh, and Alanis Morrissette stars as God. The reaction: Hundreds of Catholic protesters staged a rally at the film’s New York premiere, singing, praying and bearing placards that read “Stop blasphemy!” Catholic director Smith confessed bemusement, saying, “I never thought it was anything but a pro-faith, pro-Catholic, spiritually uplifiting dick-and-fart-joke movie.” Meanwhile Film Comment editor Richard Jameson called the protestors “a bunch of humorless Catholics who will never see the movie – or be capable, in their puny, starched lives, of anything like its complex passion for the religion they assume it trashes.” Woah.
