  • Hey, remember that whole fiasco a month or two ago when the Australian magazine printed Matt & Ben’s Q&A from the WWWBoard and used it as an interview? Our scooper wrote a letter to the magazine, which produced the following “retraction”, so to speak, from the editors. We thought you may be interested:
“You presume correctly, and here’s the retraction. When the article fell into my hands I was under the impression that we had a print exclusive, which we do. I knew where the article had come from – the viewaskew website – and in the past we had conducted a Q & A with Smith which we published in the 2.4 January issue. Exactly the same thing happened in this instance, confirmed by Smith (who owns the website), that we had full permission to use the latest article. As it turns out I started receiving emails from disgruntled Smith devotees from around the world who had seen the reprinted article on our website. Our mistake was not crediting viewaskew, which we rectified as soon as we received the first email.

Next time we are granted such an article, there will be no doubt that emphasis will be on the beauty of the web in accessing information. All we neglected to do was acknowledge the source. So here goes, for the full transcript of the session, plenty of mean hyperbole about our magazine, and other Kevin Smith matters go to www.viewaskew.com. Whilst you’re there check out an interview with actor Ethan Surplee which FILMINK conducted and gave to the viewaskew website until it’s timely for us to use it. It goes both ways”.

Is it just me or are they losing the point? The magazine is saying their crime is in not crediting the website, but I still say thedogmarc”>Dogma, with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. He’s also busy writing books, recording comedy albums and hawking products on TV. Rock, the son of a truck driver, hasn’t let success go to his head. He recently contributed to Howard University, the alma mater of his wife, Malaak, 28, to establish a humor magazine, which he hopes will be the training ground for the next generation of black comedy writers.
