Stash Bash And Vulgarthon News…

August 10th @ 11:36 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin dropped by his webboard again today with some more news concering some upcoming events out on the West Coast. Check out what he had to say right here:
After going over it a few times, we’ve decided pulling off a Stash Bash at such short notice is gonna be really tough. So, like the previous “Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash” (Red Bank, NJ), we’ve decided to open bash-less (when we originally took over ComicOlogy on Monmouth Street in December of ‘97, we did so with little fanfare; it wasn’t ’til we moved on up to Broad Street that we Christened the Stash with a Bash).

So where does that leave you, the fan who wants to celebrate the opening of our west coast branch?

Well, how ’bout this: on September 7th, we’re gonna do a signing of the “ClerksX” and “Jersey Girl” dvd’s. That’s right – buy your disc at our store and get it signed by me, Mewes, and possibly others. No tickets necessary – just show up and get in line.

Following that, in Nov/Dec, we’re gonna hold our first West Coast Vulgarthon – one day only in a big-ass theater (instead of two days, two theaters – in the way that Red Bank’s Clearview Cinemas’ space limitations forces us to do)! As soon as we lock a date, I’ll let ya’ll know, but in the meantime, I don’t wanna hear any of this “short notice” shit: I’m telling you now to mark your VA Almanacs – Vulgarthon ‘04, Westwood, CA., Nov/Dec.

Kevin is also taking suggestions on what flicks he should show during the WC Vulgarton. Just drop by THIS THREAD and add your suggestions. We’ll be back on Wednesday with a full update.

  • A radio spot with Kevin urging listeners to vote was heard on Kansas City’s 96.5 over the weekend. We imagine this syndicated spot is
part of the “Declare Yourself” campaign and should be heard nationwide. If we get audio we’ll post it for you here as well.
  • Comingsoon.net and The Movie Box have now posted
the full teaser trailer to the Ben Affleck comedy “Surviving Christmas”.
  • “Rate That Commentary”, currently has the Mallrats DVD commentart ranked at number three for best, behind Brazil and
    Aliens.

State’ and how Jersey’s reputation is rising in the world as of late.
  • IMDb’s daily poll is asking what your favorite Matt Damon movie is, and ‘Dogma’ is currently running a failry close second to ‘Good Will
    Hunting’.
  • Strata, a new alt-rock band, drops the BC a mention in their self-titled debut cd liner notes:
“RYAN THANKS: Buddy Christ for watching over me”
  • Alright, we think we’ve located a TRUE fan here. Check out this excerpt found on this site
    about baby names:
My son’s name is Gavin Orion. I’m due in September. The names we’ve picked out are Lyra Star for a girl, and Dante Randall for a boy. We tried to stay away
from family or “too common” names. (Ours are Rachel and Jason)
  • How about those West Coast Stash photos, huh people? This place sure is gonna give our fun little east coast store a run for the money
as the best comic shop in the world! If you missed the weekend story, be sure and surf just below this or into the archives, as Kevin’s also dropping hints
on a ton of upcoming dates for West Coast events! Stay tuned for more…
  • And finally today, so maybe Dante was wrong about what Randall could do hurtful for an
encore? In part, anyway…See ya next time!

WC Stash Photos…And More!

August 8th @ 10:06 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin stopped by the board yesterday and dropped a few interesting nuggets of information and some great photos from inside the new West Coast Stash. Read on…
It’s coming along nicely. We’re on track for an end of August Stash Bash West (just settled on the theater for the post-Bash screening/Q&A). Heads up: we’re only gonna have 850 slots, and tickets are looking like thirty of forty bucks.

The events we’re lining up…

– Tentatively (very tentatively), Stash Bash West is gonna be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 28th and 29th.

– Tuesday, September 7th, we’re gonna be holding a “Clerks X” and “Jersey Girl” DVD signing (for you L.A. area folks, this will be akin to the two Dave’s Laser signings I did for “Dogma” and “Strike Back”).

– We’re gonna start the bi-monthly comic book pro signings in October (and wait’ll you hear the names we’ve got in store for ya’).

– If this theater works out for us, we may have finally figured out where to hold our first West Coast Vulgarthon, closer to Christmas.

You are the ones who are the Stash-Bashers!

In other, unrelated news, I finished the script to the small project. More on that as it unfolds…

AP: Kev Renews His Wedding Vows!

August 5th @ 7:16 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Alonso Duralde, Recurve, Cheryl Berkeley

  • AP picked this one up so we thought we’d share it with you as well. Readers of the site saw Kevin announce that he got married…again…To Jen over this
past weekend in Vegas to celebrate his birthday. Here’s the big story!
Filmmaker Kevin Smith Renews Wedding Vows

LAS VEGAS – Silent Bob has said “I do” — for the second time.

Filmmaker Kevin Smith, who often casts himself as the verbally-challenged stoner in his raunchy comedies, renewed his wedding vows on Monday in a suprise
ceremony arranged by his wife as a birthday present.

Smith turned 34 while visiting Las Vegas to shoot one of his regular “Roadside Attraction” comedy segments for “The Tonight Show,” and found himself at the
city’s notorious Little White Chapel (where Britney Spears started her famously short-lived marriage) for some unexpected nuptials.

The first time Smith married his wife, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, was in April 1999.

The writer-director broke the news about his re-marriage to fans on Wednesday via his website ViewAskew.com.

“What do you give the man who has everything? For his birthday? You give him a wedding. That’s right — I’m getting married. Again. To the same chick. In
Vegas,” Smith wrote. “I’ve been out in Sin City since (last) Wednesday, spending my days writing and my nights gambling with Schwalbach. … The whole
thing was a total surprise set up by my one, true love.”

Schwalbach, a former USA Today reporter, was featured in 2001’s “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” as part of a team of sexy, leather clad cat-burglars.

Smith, a famous comic-book fan, also photographed her for Playboy magazine while she posed nude with a “Superman” look-alike.

About 20 of their family and friends flew in for the festivities.

Among the guests was his 5-year-old daughter, Harley, his producing partner Scott Mosier and his longtime pal Jason Mewes, who plays Silent Bob’s chatty,
foulmouthed “hetero life-mate” Jay.

  • We’ve finally got a line with our pals at Buena Vista who hooked us up with sweet menu sceens from Clerks X! They’re very slick and we dig the way that
they spiff things up, yet still keep the nature and tone of the film intact. A fine, fine job. We’ll have a LOT more on this exciting set in the coming
weeks, including your first look at a TON of what else is inside this puppy. If you’re as stoked as we are to check this one out, we know you’ll be back
here waiting for more. And we’ll give ya a hint…Next week!

  • Our man on the ARENA UK scene is back with scans from this month’s issue. Two pages with Kevin and a HUGE new piece with Damon due to
Bourne’s release. Click the scans above, of course. They’d be pretty dang hard to read the way they look right now.

  • Some more new pics of Kevin’s historic UK Q&A session have surfaced. We’ve got a few locally, but you can check out bunches more HERE. They’re a little stretchy but you get the idea!
  • The trailer for Affleck’s “Surviving Christmas” is on the big screen attached to most copies of “Collateral”.
  • Apparently, rumor has it that Kevin was indeed spotted with a film crew with him in the Vegas area. Of course, as the above AP story
revealed, he was filming a new Roadside Attractions segment. Should be a great one!

    in 2004.
  • Our old pal the Buddy Christ shows up (in modified form) in this blog.
