• There’s so many stories surrounding the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back DVD today, we figured we’d give them their own category. First off, the disc’s release received a quick TV mention yesterday on Access Hollywood. Oh, but there’s lots more.
• Wizard World ran a great piece on the flick’s DVD release. Their coverage was fantastic during production, and continues to be excellent. Here’s the story:

• The disc’s release made the “Latest News” area of the official Daredevil news website.
• Another review of the Jay & Bob DVD appears at IGN today. Even their online trivia question is about the flick.
• To commemorate the video/DVD release of J&SBSB, My Video Store added a weekly poll asking for your favorite Askew character.
• Our friends in Canada who are purchasing the DVD at Future Shop are reporting they’re receiving a free deck of playing cards with the Jay & Bob Strike Back logo on the back with their purchase! Cool stuff – If anyone’s got access, send us some decks! They’d make a nice giveaway at the site.
• At the Internet Movie Database, J&SBSB is featured in their Special Editions & Boxed Set DVD sections.

• Latest word from Lions Gate Films: Vulgar is scheduled at this time to be released in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles on April the 26th. If you’re in the one of those cities, plan to be there to support the film!
• Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was nominated for several 2002 “Bikkie Awards” from the Bikkit.com website.

Voting closes before March 25th. In addition, on the main page (as of today) there’s a poll for the best Kevin Smith character of all time (with 8 choices).

• Here’s a new fan-designed wallpaper featuring the DVD jackets of the Askewniverse if you’re interested, from GDX Designs.
• Another fan piece on his visit to the View Askewniverse (Red Bank) this past summer has been placed online. It’s posted on the Filmboy page of their Stomp Tokyo site. Check it out HERE.

• Well the day is finally here, you can now own your very own copies of “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” AND the long-awaited and rarely seen “Drawing Flies” on DVD! Both are also out in VHS versions at your local video store. We of course urge you to check out both of these flicks, and, if you’re a DVD owner, BUY ‘EM! Our Jay & Bob DVD review went up last week, and, with apologies to Malcolm, our Drawing Flies DVD review is still on the way. We wanted to get the review up by today, and it’s partially written already, but instead of doing it half-assed we want to do it right. So, bear with us, we promise to have that for you very soon, and that the disc isn’t deserving of the reviews that have been popping up elsewhere. Be sure and buy copies of both! • Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back has received a nomination for “Trashiest Trailer” according to Film Threat magazine. The Golden Trailer Awards event takes place on Thursday, March 14th at 8:00 p.m. at The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California, and has quite a cool list of celebrity judges.

• Jay & Bob’s DVD (and the recent piracy of the flick) pops up in a very appropriate edition of Real Life Comics today. Check it out above, on their site, or in their archives.
• In addition to this comic, a group of OTHER online comic strip artists have decided to run tribute strips to Jay & Bob today, in celebration of the DVD release. Check out all the details HERE. They’ve got links to all the comics there. A great tribute, indeed. Thanks to all the artists who participated.
• The DVD Cyber Center have posted their quite positive review of the Jay & Bob DVD.
• A fan was quick to point out that on the Jay & Bob DVD, Jason Lee’s filmography in the biography section includes a credit as Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher in Fletch Won, scheduled for 2003. Cool stuff.
• Kevin makes another appearance on Comedy Central’s “Heroes of Black Comedy” Series. This time, the Episode is on Hip-Hop Comics. He has three clips; all towards the beginning of the show. It re-airs at 8am/7C on Saturday, March 2nd.
• FYI: Shipping this week to comic stories: Green Arrow #12, a new Bluntman & Chronic poster, and a second Green Arrow T-Shirt. Check out the Stash website, our archives, or your local comic shop for more information on these items.
• Here’s a press release published today on the Tonight Show appearance tomorrow, just to continue with the anticipation:

• The “Advice From Strangers” column over at the Daily Probe put Jay & Bob in their “guest spotlight” this week.
• Finally today, those of you who have been coming to the site might rememeber a while back that we had a raffle and gave away a t-shirt that was worn by Jay Mewes himself in Mallrats as the grand prize. Well, the dude who won that puppy has come under some financial need, and thus, appears to be SELLING it to the highest bidder over at eBay. This is a true collector’s item, and something you might want to look into, a second chance to own it. Please keep in mind that this is not a News Askew or View Askew endorsed auction, as with all things on ebay bid at your own risk. Still, we thought we’d point you to it. See ya next time.

• Here’s some stuff that might be of interest to ya that’s coming from the Orlando Megacon, courtesy of Comicon.com:

• Editor Bob Schreck said that while Brave and the Bold is coming, the new, ongoing series written by Kevin Smith won’t be coming as quickly as planned, resulting in artists Phil Hester, Ande Park, and cover artist Matt Wager staying on Green Arrow through new writer Brad Meltzer’s run.
• Smith said that he hopes to get back to View Askew comic book projects this year.
• Conner Hawke will be a prominent character in Smith’s final Green Arrow storyline.
• Smith’s Spider-Man/Black Cat miniseries does lead into an ongoing Black Cat series, according to Smith.
• Schreck said that he expects Green Arrow to begin showing up around the DC Universe now that Smith has returned him to life – and soul. His first appearance will be within the first six issues of Hawkman.
• Smith said that he is “mulling over” an offer from Diana Schutz at Dark Horse to write a Star Wars comic. If he did do it, Smith said it would be a more serious story, rather than how many casualties there were when the Death Stars exploded, or other topics the characters in his movies pondered.
• Smith said that he would not be addressing the “Arrowette controversy” in the pages of his final issues of Green Arrow, nor does he have any opinion on it one way or another.

• The Sunday edition of the Asbury Park Press featured a full page full of various articles relating to Kevin, the new DVD, and other various Askew-Related things. There’s some great stuff here, including pieces on Jay & Bob, Jennifer, Carlin, O’Halloran, Anderson, and more. The APP went all out this time, and got some great material yet again. Comcast’s got Jay & Bob as their “Video Pick of the Week” right now – By the way, the Clerks, Clerks TAS and Chasing Amy DVDs are all re-issued this week at around a 14.99 retail price point. If you missed them before for some reason, it’s a great time to build the collection up.

• J&SBSB’s title appears in Mad Magazine this month as part of a silly movie puzzle game.
• The Fourth Rail’s in with their Green Arrow #12 reviews, right on schedule! The book is very highly recommended this time by their two critics, with a 9/10 and an 8/10 review. Check them out HERE and HERE, and pick up the book this week!

• The Dark Horizons website reports in today with some interesting news from the Orlando Megacon. A few tidbits that we already knew about the next films, but some interesting info regarding Jersey Girl’s lead and a possible filming location change due to budget:

BLUNTMAN & CHRONIC FIGURES: EXCLUSIVE NEWS ASKEW FIRST LOOK REVIEW Graphitti Designs were kind enough to provide News Askew an with an exclusive early hands-on look at a set of their highly-anticipated Bluntman & Chronic action figures. We ripped open their boxes and put them to the test to give you an in-depth look at this dynamic duo for the new millennium. First of all, of course, Bluntman & Chronic come sealed, each in their own packages, looking like so: Sorry for the bad quality of some of these photos, it’s going to take some practice with this digital camera before the pictures actually look decent. You can at least get an idea from the blurs and the glare. Before we realized the pics sucked, we already had them ripped open and it was too late. Anyway, as you can see, a ton of accessories come with these guys, probably the coolest of which being Suzanne the ape, who comes with the Chronic figure. Great stuff. If you set her up correctly, you can have her hand in hand with Bluntman & Chronic. Chronic also comes with a banana and poop of some kind. Bluntman seems quite a bit more sturdy than Chronic, and rightfully so! He’s got a lot more weight to him (no offense, Kevin) and a way cool coat. There’s also 3 throwing star style pot leaves, for easy dispatching of any foes, as well as his trusty Bong Saber, which makes him look “pretty bad ass” when wielding. Both figures have interchangable hands, so they don’t look stupid if you don’t want them to hold anything. If ya do, the alternate hands are styled to easily grasp a light saber, pot leaf, banana, or even Suzanne’s hand. Articulation is outstanding with these guys. They stand up quite well, and their moving arms, legs, and heads allow you to strike them in some pretty cool poses. The hair is also quite well done and the faces show a lot of character and detail (though the look on Chronic’s face would probably scare a small child – It even gave me a fright). Check out some of the stuff we were able to do with the duo in the photos here. Of course, the possibilities are endless. As always, these figures were crafted with care, and are of top quality, as Graphitti Designs is known for. Whether you keep them in their packages, take them out and pose them somewhere on a shelf, or take them on adventures (maybe even make some mini-movies), they are sure to bring you years of joy. Like the Jay & Bob toys before them, these are sturdy, well made toys that any View Askew fan would be proud to own. All we can say now is…Bring on those Clerks figures! • We’re proud to present the first look at shots from Kevin’s “Flying Cars” short, which makes its debut this Wednesday, February 27th, on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It is the first time that the Tonight Show will premiere a short film. “Flying Cars” stars Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson as Dante and Randal, as they have another one of those famous philosophical conversations of theirs (reminding us of the Clerks days). We’ve checked out the script, and it’s a sure classic – Do NOT miss this one! And if ya wanna see how it looks, check out the screens above.
