  • This may be old news to some of you, but since MTV’s been running this interesting storythat explains where Good Will Hunting (and the name Skylar) came from, we figured we’d post it. Check it out:

The Unlikely Link Between Metallica And Matt Damon

In six-degrees-of-separation news, there appears to be a unique, if not immediately obvious, connection between Oscar nominee and Hollywood golden boy Matt Damon and metal mainstays Metallica.

Damon recently told “Movieline” magazine that the love of his life was a doctor with whom he had carried on a long-distance relationship for years. Damon would not reveal the name of the woman, but did tell the magazine that she went on to marry “a f***ing rock star who’s got $80 million and his own jet… a bad rock star too.”

Those who have seen Damon’s multiple Oscar-nominated film “Good Will Hunting” will recall that the actor/screenwriter’s on-screen love interest in that movie is also a doctor played by Minnie Driver. Damon has denied that the character is not named after anyone in real life, but Driver’s character (named Skylar) shares the same first name and occupation as the wife of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

A publicist for Metallica confirmed that the drummer’s wife is in fact Damon’s old flame. For the record, the normally loquacious Lars had nocomment on being dissed by Damon.

  • Flixtour @ Lehigh University…

  • We actually managed to find our way to the Lehigh campus and the Kenner Theater (Which proved to be more of a chore than we imagined) for Vincent’s Flixtour stop yesterday. Good thing we’d seen “A Better Place” before, since we walked in about halfway through the flick. The crowd was of a pretty good size (40-50) and very attentive. We noticed some good reactions from them during the film, and Vincent’s Q&A went quite well. The audience asked good questions, many of them, actually…Some folks even asked if and when they could see the film again in the area.

Oh, and the flick was just as good, if not better, in the second viewing. It definitely holds up. Don’t miss a chance to catch it on the big screen. Vincent says it should definitely see video distribution, and still hopes for a theatrical run in large cities if he can pique some interest.

Upcoming Flixtour dates and locations can be accessed HERE or through the graphic at the top of the page.

  • As you probably all know, the WWWBoard is back, and with that always comes some useful, first-hand information from Kevin himself. Here’s a few things to look forward to in the coming months:
      · Clerks Comic #2 by the end of the year
      · Bluntman and Chronic comic early next year
      · Jay & Bob action figures August/September

  • Even after being out on shelves for this long, “Chasing Amy” remains in the video rental Top 10! That’s quite an achievement, especially when you notice all the other flicks are basically brand new releases. Here’s the rundown:

  • AICN has got another review of ‘Armageddon’ online, which you can check out HERE…Don’t ask us what it says, we’re not reading them so we can go in cold.
  • The latest issue of Spin magazine has a rather odd mention of Kevin. In the article, which discusses campus sex, a mini-marathon of View Askew movies is listed as one of the catalysts of a dorm-wide orgy. Huh.
  • In the June issue of Vanity Fair (the one with David Duchovny on the cover), there’s a few pictures of Matt and Ben. There’s one of Matt at the Oscars, one with Ben at the Oscars (both in the Hollywood section at the front) and another one of the two of them in the Vanities section near the end of the mag. Check them out for yourself, or, if we get the scans, we’ll get ’em online for ya.
