- Well folks, you sure did come through for us! This week, we’re proud to announce that News Askew is now the 24th most popular website on the Internet according to the Global Top 100!!! Thanks to all of the loyal fans who voted for us. Hopefully, we can continue to climb the chart (or at least maintain for a little while), but it’s quite an honor even if we drop off the face of the thing next week. We’re listed as a “hot” site as well (whatever that means). Again, thanks to all of you for the support.

Commentary…
- Well, there’s just not a whole helluva lot going on in the world of Askew this weekend, but we figured that we’d catch up just for that feeling of completeness on the weekend…Plus, Comic Relief is getting a little stale. Plus, we thought those of you that got back to work and browse us there would need SOMETHING to read during that Monday adjustment phase. Anyway, here’s today’s stuff:
Armageddon Reviews…
- More Armageddon reviews have been posted over at AICN. Drop by if you want to check them out. We’re not sure of the spoiler content since we don’t wanna read them ourselves. It’s a drag going into a flick when you know everything that’s gonna happen (which is why X-Files should be so good this weekend!).
CyberSleaze…
- Well, here’s a couple stories originating from CyberSleaze. The first is on the death of “Superman Lives” :
And the other story focuses on the “problems” Dogma is already facing from Disney and Miramax :
All we can say is that the Brothers Weinstein would not sink over 4 million into a script and not plan to release the film…

- TNT Roughcut‘s webpage mentions Kevin briefly in an interview for the film “High Art”:
- A new, very positive, non-spoiler review of “Armageddon” has been posted over at the excellent Dark Horizons website. Click HERE and surf to the end of June 12th’s news to read the piece.
- Also, if you’d like to read what’s most likely our LAST Dogma On-Set Report (from Sandrene), be sure to surf over to Dogma: RC!
NEWS ASKEW #114 ON THE GLOBAL INTERNET TOP WEBSITES!

(Click The Button To Vote For Us!)
- We were both honored AND shocked to find out yesterday that News Askew is actually #114 on the Global Internet Top 100!!! So, we figure, hell, we got THIS far, let’s see how much further up that list we can go! That’s where YOU come in. If ya dig us and wanna help out, do us a favor and surf right HERE to place a vote for us! Results are updated every Monday. There’s no running tally kept as votes continue, nor are we certain how they handle stuff like voting twice, but it’d be great for the site if we could get some exposure by moving up in the ranks! Here’s hoping we’ll see you in the top 100 this Monday…
ISAs In Premiere…

Under the category “What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?”
Ben Affleck: “Kissing a man in Kevin Smith’s movie [Chasing Amy].
Under the category “What did you do with your first big Hollywood paycheck?”
Ben Affleck: “I was sleeping on a couch at the time, so I bought a bed and a matress-and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Jason Lee: “Probably gave it all to the IRS. I didn’t realize they take that much.
Joey Lauren Adams: “I had just moved into a place and had no furniture, so I furnished my apartment. When you’re broke for so long and you get money, it’s hard to spend it. You get that, like, sick feeling in your stomach. I’m still like that.
Under the category “Whose career would you revive if you were casting an indie movie?”
JLA: “Probably Andy Griffith’s. I love him. I’ve seen every episode of The Andy Griffith Show.
Affleck’s Affections…
- Here’s a pretty bizarre little piece from TvGen…We’ll let it speak for itself:

The Object of Our Affleck-tion
Ben Affleck has a foolproof way to meet women: Win an Academy Award. The Armageddon star, who shared the Best Original Screenplay prize for Good Will Hunting with his pal Matt Damon, tells the July issue of Details that nothing attracts girls like gold.
“On the night of the awards, I just carried the Oscar around waist-high,” he says. “I never had so many women ask me, ‘Can I touch it?’ in my life. Sadly, they were talking about the statuette.”
Affleck, who’s currently dating fellow hot young thing Gwyneth Paltrow, also reveals who he’d go after if his sexual orientation were different. “The first guy I would sleep with is Kevin Smith [his director in Chasing Amy]. The second one would be Leo DiCaprio – but only for the long hair he had in The Man in the Iron Mask.”
Although Affleck sometimes gets flustered by the attention, he’s not one to complain about the trappings of fame. “It may be difficult to go down to the porno theater without somebody going, ‘Hey, isn’t that the guy from….’ But when you’ve got a chaffeur and a huge house with a gate and security – that’s not my idea of difficult.” – SCB
How can we comment on that? Let’s move on.
