Boy, oh boy do we ever have a ton of them for ya today:

  • A very nifty scoop/picture comes to us featuring what we believe to be the very FIRST Jay & Silent Bob comic book cameo appearance (dating back to July 1997, Impulse #27). Check it out!
  • Affleck.Com is still up and running strong (we’ll be adding a permanent link to that fine site in our sidebar when we do our end of February archving), so be sure and visit that site. Ben just mentioned that he’d most likely allow boarders the opportunity to sign up as extras for one of his upcoming film projects. Cool stuff! Also, an NA reader dropped us a line and asked if we’d mention her Ben/Casey site. Of course we can. It’s actually an excellent news site, and very slick. You can visit it HERE.
  • Chalk up another screening Askew on the calendar! On March 26th & 27th, the Westgate Theater in Madison, WI will show Clerks and on the 28th & 29th, they’ll screen Chasing Amy. It’s a bit of a hike for us, so don’t expect us there!
  • CORRECTION: Actually, there IS mention of Joey Lauren Adams on the website about the Emergency Room 2 game: “Enjoy more than thirty minutes of live action video, including Actress Joey Lauren Adams, the star of Chasing Amy. Colorful hospital personnel comments and wisecracks just might be helpful.”
  • The Asbury Park Press’s entertainment section, Alive, ran a cover story entitled “Toy Story-Jay & Silent Bob Are Living Dolls”. The cover features the two action figures against a backdrop that is made to look like a familiar store front in Red Bank (Not in any of the movies, but near the old offices). The article itself is set up like a comic. There are two goofy teenage types wandering around Red Bank. They go to Jack’s Music Shoppe (from Chasing Amy), then to Starbucks. After that they head to Funk and Standard, and, finally, The Secret Stash:

Guy- Cool! The comic shop! I need an issue of “Hate”.

Girl- Hey-are Jay and Silent Bob ever really here?

Meanwhile in a nearby editing room (A pic of Kev and Jason is shown).

Kevin- Er, Jase? Who’s minding the store?

Jay-No Problemo, amigo. I left those life-sized prototypes in charge.

Guy(looking in on Stash)-I see them!

(They walk in and see the huge action figures).

Girl (Whispering)- Don’t mess yourself or they’ll think we’re Gilligans.

(Now they start to talk to the action figures)

Guy- Jason, I’ve seen all your flicks! Do a Jay line for me!

Talking Jay Action Figure- Snootch to the Nootch!

Guy- Kevin Smith! I have an idea for a movie! It’s called “Dingleberries”. It’s about a bunch of dudes who just, you know hang out and read comics and say stuff. It’s kinda semi-autobiographical.

Guy- Umm…Are you not saying anything because you’re “Silent” Bob or because you just think I’m an idiot?

      (The pair leave the store)

Guy- Did those guys seem weird?

Girl- People in movies always look different in real life. I heard Ben Savage is a midget.

Guy- I heard Melissa Joan Hart has a shiny forehead.

The article was written by Mark Voger and Kathy Voglesong. At the bottom, there’s info about the Stash Gala (even though it’s sold out!).

  • Finally, in today’s strange Askew sighting department: In the new issue of Gambit, #3, Gambit watches as a courier makes a sales pitch to a group of scientists who are interested in the advancement of humanity, and also making a quick buck. They are called the “Crew A.S.K.E.W.”.
