  • Here’s a list of upcoming home video releases that feature Askew-involved persons. Stick it on your bulletin board:
Saving Private Ryan (Matt Damon) – 5/25
Enemy of the State (Jason Lee) – 6/15
The Faculty (Salma Hayek) – 6/15
Rushmore (Dogma cinematographer Robert D. Yeoman) – 6/29

Though we warn you: The Faculty is crap! Can’t go wrong with the other 3 though…

Clerks DVD Price & Info

May 9th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad, Matt Brown, & Ford Prefect

  • Probably the bulk of our mail lately has been folks writing in about the Clerks DVD fiasco. Seems that the major retail outlets online still list Kevin’s commentary as being part of the package, which is a good sign, but with no definite confirmation from Buena Vista yet, we’re still a little worried. Also, Amazon indeed DID raise their price, but Ken Crane’s did NOT, so if you wanna get a bargain, surf on over to Ken Crane’s and order this DVD for $20.99! I thought it through, still hoping the commentary WILL be included (otherwise I don’t really want the thing), but if it is, this is a fantastic deal. We’ve also added the DVD back to our ever-growing list of VA countdowns.

DareDevil #7 Covers, Sketches…

May 9th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brian Wolski

  • Surprisingly, it seems like DareDevil #7 has been announced for a May 19th arrival date! That, coincidentally, puts the series back on track, and arrives the same day as the Bluntman & Chronic Oni Double, as well as a little movie that some of us have been looking forward to. Anyway, we’re not sure if this date can be hit or not, but the issue sure is shaping up to be another fantastic one. Joe Quesada’s posted a sketch of the new cover is http://www.marvel.com/news/news4.html (which contains a spoiler for those of you that didn’t read issue 6, and if you didn’t, what are you waiting for?), as well as some rough sketches of a few other panels.

Private West Coast Dogma Screening…

May 9th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Emmiline

  • Sounds like some lucky fans out on the west coast were handed some passes for a private Dogma screening this Wednesday, May 12th, out in L.A! We’re sure a few of those folks have gotta be NA readers, so we’ll have all the info on how the flick is shaping up, we’re sure. We’ve yet to see the flick ourselves since the rough cut, so we’re curious to hear about the digital effects, sound effects, and of course Howard Shore’s score. Ah, screw it: Anyone got an extra couple tix to L.A? 🙂 These lucky folks will be the last to see the film before its official world debut at Cannes later this month.

AFA Attacks Disney??? WHY???

May 9th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Ho boy. Looks like the AFA doesn’t even CARE that Disney no longer owns a piece of Dogma. Actually, they just didn’t have a target anymore, so decided to strike at Disney anyway. Can you BELIEVE that??? This stuff is almost laughable. Anyway, we’ve got some scans of the new mailer that the American Family Association is sending out in the hopes that they can raise donation money to fight the evil that IS Dogma by attacking Disney, WHO NO LONGER HAVE ANY PART OF THE FILM! Nothing like using Disney as a recognizable name to try and fill up those donation buckets. This should be illegal.

WARNING: THESE SCANS CONTAIN SPOILERS!!! The letter basically bullets out some of the happenings in Dogma and, though it misconstues some of them a bit, it does give away some major plot points (especially number one). So if you’re the non spoiler type, stay away from this stuff and trust us: It’s just plain ridiculous.

Now if organizations like this only put this amount of money and effort into getting donations to save the hungry, or for AIDS and cancer research…Oh well, we guess a movie is just as much of a threat. Yeah, right.

Commentary…

  • This update’s been long overdue: We’ve been taking care of some spring cleaning, catching a couple flicks, paying some bills, enjoying the nice weather, and I’ve been hitting the interview circuit a little bit…So, it’s been tough getting a chance just to sit down and sift through the mail, as well as finding the time to post a coherent update. Luckily, things continue to be slow around these parts, but we’ve definitely got some stuff we want to talk about, as well as that new Sunday poll topic (based on an idea by Rugmuncher). Here ya go:
