HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

• Ah yes, one of our favorite times of the year is Halloween. There’s a slight chill in the air, plenty of leftover candy to be had all over the place, and, best of all, TONS of horror flicks, old and new, on the tube. The Creepshow DVD finally arrived today, and Chris is over so we’re about to spin that sucker up. No Halloween parties or anything for us this year, the both of us are just plain tired from moving and setting up our places.

Of course, though, we couldn’t let things go without doing our traditional News Askew Halloween update. We normally take holidays off, but this one’s too much fun to miss out on. Quite a bit of stuff going on this weekend, too — Some announcements on upcoming television appearances of Kevin & other View Askew folks, more information on Dogma screenings, and a couple other newsbites.

• A free screening of DOGMA tentatively scheduled for Nov 9, at Indiana University (Bloomington) Memorial Union – Whittenberger Audtorium. Very limited seating. Student/Faculty priority, but some passes may be available to public. Keep an eye out for passes. More details to come upon official announcement. Estimated chance of entry: somewhere in the middle.
• More of the ‘Dog in Dallas: There’s a screening of it at the Loews Keystone on Nov. 3rd at 7:30. Tickets were handed out at a store downtown called “Off the Street Dallas” starting today. Hopefully you snagged some or can stop in for whatever remains.
• There will be an advanced screening of Dogma on Tuesday November 9th for Ohio State University students at the AMC Lennox. Students can win passes from the station The Big Wazoo 107.1. Nice name, huh?

• Kevin will be talking to John Pierson in a two part episode of Split Screen. They spend most of the two 30 minute episodes talking seriously about Dogma – The controversy, the Catholic League, the change in distrbutors, etc. Split Screen airs exclusively on the Independent Film Channel and the airdates are as follows:

Check this out: We hear this interview is SO good that it may actually be included on the Dogma DVD itself, kinda like they did with Tarantino’s Charlie Rose interview and the Criterion Pulp Fiction laserdisc. Here’s your chance to see it right away.

• Many of you caught the fact that Kevin and Jay are due for an appearance on Total Request Live next week on MTV but didn’t know the day — Well, last we heard, it’s scheduled for Thursday, November the 4th. Tune in, we’re sure it’ll be a lot of fun. Or stop by Times Square and hold up some silly signs or something.

• Clive Young’s given the Jay & Silent Bob action figures yet another starring role — In this short flick, they meet up with Bill & Ted. Check it out at his site HERE.
• More on the Dogma novel: Amazon.Com is now listing a HARDCOVER version of the book, from Hyperion, due in January. No idea if this is just an old error or a new announcement we haven’t officially heard yet. If anyone from any of these publishing companies knows more, drop us a line. We’ll try and clear this book stuff up soon. As far as we know, all you can count on is the screenplay paperback due about a week after the flick’s release.
• We’re pleased to announce that Alanis’ amazing new track, “Still”, is now available online once again. You can listen to it at the Maverick records site: http://www.maverickrc.com/dogma/ or through the link on the official Dogma website.
• The Jersey Trilogy is playing in lovely Toronto next week from Tuesday-Thursday at the Royal Theater. On Tuesday, catch Clerks at 7 and Mallrats at 9. Wednesday, catch Mallrats at 7 and Chasing Amy at 9. Finally, on Thursday, catch Clerks at 7 and Amy at 9. Stop by and watch the classics up on the big screen.

• Whew, was this a LONG friggin week or WHAT?!?!? Anyway, with the weekend on the way, news has actually slowed down a little bit, as well. Today, we’ve got yet another update on advance screenings of Dogma, all the View Askew stuff summarized from the latest issue of Wizard, and a couple of very interesting NewsBites. Read on, and have a great weekend. The weather here in Central PA is supposed to be beautiful…

• MSU Screening Update: A staff member tells us that admission and tickets are totally FREE! First come, first serve.
• There is a screening of Dogma in Connecticut on Thursday, Nov. 4, at the East Hartford Showcase. The general public should be able to win tickets from a radio station or get them from the Hartford Courant. No further information is available at this time.

• Zee’s back with a summary of the Kevin & View Askew stuff you’ll find in this month’s new issue of Wizard. And yet again, there’s a ton:

• Wondering about that Dogma book in Previews? So are we. Kevin hasn’t mentioned anything about it happening, so we doubt we’ll see anything but the script book, which is fine — Plus, if ya look REALLY closely at the pic in Previews – The book says “A Screenplay by Kevin Smith”. So this could just be an error. We’ll keep ya posted.
• Believe it or not, Malcolm Ingram‘s new flick “Tail Lights Fade” has been released in Australia…ON VIDEO! How odd! The film has yet to be released theatrically anywhere, and we hear Malcolm’s fairly surprised as well. It was spotted at the chain “Video Ezy” down under about three weeks ago. Still no word on TLF’s release elsewhere in the world. And no, you STILL can’t see “Drawing Flies” anywhere!

• Well, it’s just been about the busiest week since this site started, not a good combination with moving! We’re averaging about 100 e-mails a day now, so bear with us if responses come slow, it’s been almost a full-time job just keeping up with e-mails, let alone writing updates and such.

Today we FINALLY got Dogma Rumor Control all caught up with the latest — So that means you can surf over for the most recent reviews, articles, and newsbites. Most of the news was reported here on this page, so we’ve just lifted it from there.and moved it along. You’ll still probably want to check it out just to make sure you didn’t miss anything, though.

There’s also an AMAZING amount of pre-release Dogma screenings going on around the country, so read below for your chance to see the movie before it’s out. If there’s a way, we’ll let you know about it here. Reading News Askew should definitely increase your chances of seeing the flick before the 12th.
