Vulgarthon Mini-FAQ!

  • There’s been a lot of folks asking questions over at the web board, with Kevin and Vincent fielding what they can, but here’s what we’ve learned and a few other tidbits that may ease your questions a bit.
  • Can I still get tickets?

    In short, no.

BUT…Anyone looking to unload unwanted tickets may call the office (732-842-6933) A.S.A.P. to adjust the charge on your credit card. Kevin has mentioned that they’ll be doing this for ONE WEEK ONLY, so if you got tix and can’t attend anymore, call the office. We imagine that View Askew will then resell the returned tickets by some means, so there may still be hope. Watch this site, View Askew, and the Thon site for more details.

  • What’s the film schedule?

The full schedule for each theater (which is determined by which ticket you have, no exceptions) can be found online at the official Vulgarthon site. In short, you’ll all see Drawing Flies, Dogma, and A Better Place before the intermission, and the SECRET TITLE and Big Helium Dog afterwards.

  • When’s intermission? Is food supplied?

We expect intermission to happen around 6:30, so eat a BIG breakfast/lunch before ya get to the show. The theater will most likely sell popcorn and sodas all day (we assume). As for dinner itself, you’re on your own. There are tons of places to eat in Red Bank, many within walking distance, though 400+ people all flooding the area at once may make the wait a bit longer. You’ll have plenty of time, over an hour, to eat and get back to the show, so don’t worry.

  • Which theater is better?

At the last thon, Theater 1 was the smaller of the two. But, aside from seating more folks, both theaters are exepected to be identical in sound and picture quality. So you’re cool either way.

  • Where’s everyone staying?

The popular choice is the Holiday Inn in Tinton Falls, and that’s where we expect most of the action before and after the show to be. The Official Vulgarthon Site has all the details. Last time, we all stayed at the Red Bank Courtyard Marriott, which was closest, but with higher rates and uncooperative staff, the nearby Holiday Inn was chosen as the place to be. Of course, if you want more choices, there’s a couple others recommended at the site as well.

  • “Where’s the parties before and after the show? Par-ty! Par-ty! Par-ty!”

First of all, keep in mind that View Askew is not officially sponsoring or sanctioning any events outside of the film festival. You’re responsible for your own actions when you’re not at the theater. Please keep that in mind and give coutresy and respect to the people you deal with at your hotels, restaraunts, and in town itself. Respect the area, don’t make us look bad.

That being said, there’s certainly going to be some parties before and after the event. The best place to learn about this stuff will be at the official Vulgarthon website, where people will likely advertise their plans. The last Vulgarthon had a nice gathering of folks at the hotel bar the night before the event. That’ll be a good place to find us. An even better place if you folks are buying us beer. Hell, if that happens, we’ll probably close the joint.

  • Who’s gonna be there?

No official guests will be announced, but Kevin is a sure thing, along with Vincent (For A Better Place) and Bryan Lunch will take a few minutes from his career as a famous Hollywood screenwriter to screen Big Helium Dog. From the prodction side of things, you’ll be able to meet Scott Mosier & Bryan Johnson almos definitely. And we’re willing to almost guarantee that Brian O’Halloran will come by for the entire event. And of course, don’t forget Jay.

We imagine that Jason Lee, Ben Affleck, and some of the other big celebs from the flicks will all be extended an invite, yet their busy production schedules may just flat-out prevent them from being able to attend.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, we’ll be there.

  • What’s the mystery movie?

Folks will be speculating up until the moment it airs, though popular opinion is that they’ll show the unaired Clerks cartoon episodes (4 of them, which would amount to about 1:40, a natural feature running time). No one’s told us, though.

As always, surf over to the official Vulgarthon 2000 website for more detail on all of this stuff. As more questions arise, we may throw them up.
