- According to The Hollywood Reporter and the Popcorn website, Jason Lee has signed on to play the best friend of Tom Cruise’s character in Cameron Crowe’s next flick, which surprisingly actually HAS a title already, “Vanilla Skyâ€:
Jason Lee has signed up to co-star in Cameron Crowe’s thriller ‘Vanilla Sky’.
Lee will star alongside Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz in the story of a womaniser (Cruise) who falls in love with his best friend’s (Lee) girlfriend (Cruz) before being seriously injured in a car crash. As doctors begin to rebuild the man’s disfigured face, the girlfriend professes her love and things get complicated.
The project, written and directed by Crowe, is based on the Spanish romantic thriller ‘Abre Los Ojos’, which also starred Cruz.
Lee, who recently worked with Crowe on the comedy-drama ‘Almost Famous’, will follow ‘Vanilla Sky’ with the comedy ‘Stealing Stanford’, opposite Tom Green.
‘Vanilla Sky’ begins filming in November.
