US RESIDENTS: PLEASE VOTE TOMORROW!

November 6th @ 11:00 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Far be it from us to be political, or even claim we can fully understand the political system of this country, but those of you living here in the United States and of age really should take a few minutes to vote tomorrow. Even if you’re like us and don’t have a lot of time, pick an issue or two and stick with it. With the election this close, your vote really CAN make a difference. With the internet naturally more widespread than ever for a Presidential election, there’s a TON of websites out there that spell out the candidates for ya. PBS has a pretty cool one that even has an interactive guide that tells you your best candidate, based on your own values and concerns. Cool stuff. Anyway, this website isn’t out to mudsling one candidate or tout another, but just to encourage you to please get out there and make a choice. Just think, it’s so close that the votes generated by visits to News Askew alone could make a difference tomorrow. And that’s pretty cool and damn frightening at the same time. 😉

  • More screenings! The University of Colorado at Boulder’s Program Council is showing the entire New Jersey Trilogy (strangely out of order, however). You can catch all three flicks in the Old Main building on the following dates
“Chasing Amy” (11/7)
Clerks (11/8)
Mallrats (11/13)

All movies start at 7:00pm and ANYONE (even non-students) can attend the screenings, just show up. Last year’s “Dogma” sneak was so popular that CU had to hold an encore showing so there wouldn’t be a riot. Check out http://www.colorado.edu/StudentGroups/pc/ for more info.

  • The Independent Film Channel will be running the Clerks Special Edition featuring the commentary and deleted scenes again on November 24th, for those of you who don’t have the DVD, missed it last time or just picked up the network.
  • Dogma will debut on Saturday, November 11 on the Starz! movie channel. Check your local listings for times.
  • The latest issue of Total Movie magazine (that comes with a DVD, and is highly recommended) contains some clips from Clerks. We’re not sure which ones as we’ve yet to spin up the disc, but that’s what we hear.
