  • Well, another year has come and gone here, and it gets ya thinking back on the big events of the year. We never know what we’re going to see from year to year here at the site, this year of course was exciting, with Dogma taking off and becoming the biggest, most seen View Askew flick to date, along with expansion into more comics and other venues, especially flicks like Vulgar, which was picked up for distribution this year, and A Better Place, which will finally see it’s long overdue home video release after much acclaim at this past year’s Vulgarthon. All in all, another amazing year here at View Askew, and again, 2001 looks to be the biggest yet.

Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is set to hit theaters everywhere in the largest (over 2000 screen) opening in View Askew history this August. We’ve also got a TON of comic-related stuff, including the Bluntman & Chronic tie-in, Kev’s Green Arrow project, The Loki & Bartelby one-shot, and oh so much more. Don’t forget DVD releases of the Clerks cartoons, the Dogma Special Edition, and the rarely seen A Better Place and Drawing Flies. And that’s just what we know SO FAR. From where we stand, 2001 is going to be easily the most exciting year for View Askew yet!

We’d like to take this time to wish each and every one of you the happiest of new years. Thanks again for all your support over the years, and we wish you all the best in the new millenium. Hopefully you found something better to do than surf the web at midnight tonight, but if not, hey, thanks for dropping in and celebrating with us. Don’t forget to check back later tomorrow for our all new J&SBSB page and the contest winner announcement. Thanks again, everyone, and here’s to a very exciting 2001 here at News Askew!

  • Here’s one for you ladies out there…The “Almost Nekkid Calendar” features Dante himself, Brian O’Halloran in a nearly naked pose. There’s only been 1,000 produced, and it’s to promote the upcoming flick, “Drop Dead Roses” in which Brian and his girlfriend, Diana, star (Diana also appears in the calendar, fellas, and her shot’s even up at the official site). You can place your order at the previously mentioned links.
  • Marvel honcho Joe Quesada has revealed that he will be making a cameo in “Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back”. Quesada previously appeared at the comic book convention in “Chasing Amy” (and of course in that famous unsuspecting scene of “A Perfect Murder”).
  • Diamond Distributors have another article on Kevin’s move to Image Comics. Nothing new, but if ya wanna check it out, there ya go!
  • Here’s the specs for the upcoming “Almost Famous” DVD that were recently announced. The deleted scenes should be great to watch and the highlight of the disc, as we know Crowe had a longer cut of the film ready to go originally…It’s just a shame this flick didn’t bank more bucks because it really is a good one:
On 3/13 comes Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous, in a new, never-before-seen 30-minute longer cut. Though there will be no additional extras aside from the obligatory production notes, cast bios and trailer, the disc features a 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 and 2.0 surround tracks. Retail is $26.95 each.

Thanks to DVDFile for the blurb.

  • Once again, folks, have a safe and fun New Year. Catch ya in Y2K1.
