Kevin: “We’re Officially Halfway Finished”…

February 18th @ 12:55 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith

  • Kevin once again checked in as he seems to do every Sunday with a report from last week’s happenings on the set. Sounds like another great week of filming and that everything’s running right on schedule. Looks like that question a lot of you have been asking is finally answered, too – They’ll be back in Red Bank to finish up the last week in March. Here’s Kevin:
…with the movie, our careers, etc.

A good week all around, with the weirdest moment being watching my wife and the other girls clad merely in their undies, simulating sex. What a strange job.

Joe Quesada came out and impressed us all with his histrionics, making him the second Marvel editorial top-dog to appear in a View Askew flick.

We made a return trip to a new and improved Mooby’s, and also shot at – horror of horrors – another convenience store! It felt like infidelity, I tell’s ya (though not to worry: we shoot at Quick Stop in NJ the last week in March)!

All in all, a very good week, with great peformances all around.

Did a bit of editing last night too, and the flick’s looking great so far.

Tonight, we’re having our ‘Mid-Way Party’ to celebrate twenty five shooting days with no one having killed anyone else yet. Monday, we have off for the holiday. Then Tuesday, it’s the return of the Shatner of the View Askewniverse himself: Ben Affleck (can’t wait!).

On unrelated notes…

Look for a pic of me and a wonderful, Phil and Ande drawing of me in Maxim and Paper magazines respectively, now on stands, I believe. Both promoting ‘Green Arrow’.

Pick up the number six best selling book in the country, by the by, in a mere week and a half at local comic book stores (or order it signed from the Stash Online).

Don’t forget (and I see some of you can’t, as you already have it) that the ‘Clerks’ Cartoon DVD is coming out this week. This is a must-have for the hardcore (and casual) fans.

Wish a brother luck: aside from both Affleck AND Damon this week, he’s got to squeeze into a ridiculous outfit and get the shit beat out of him in the BluntCave.

Quite a strange job indeed.

Clerks TCS DVD Reviews & Possible Defects…

  • Some glowing reviews of the Clerks TCS DVD are appearing all over the place on the net and the WWWBoard. Once again, the gang at View Askew have put together a quality product packed full of extras. One review sent to us appears at the Home Theater Forum and can be read HERE. UK Site DVD Debate also has their own take on the disc. The reviewer there gives the disc a B+, but it only seems because he wanted more on the disc and thinks it should be marketed differently.

By the way, there have been a few reports coming in regarding faulty Clerks Cartoon DVD sets, both of which feature 2 copies of Disk 1 rather than a Disk 1 and a Disk 2. You can easily tell this because the labels on both discs will have #1 on them (it’s not a content error with disk 2, rather, just 2 of the same #1). We’re not sure how widespread the problem is yet, and we still don’t have copies to see if ours are like this, but be sure and check them out. We’ll try and dig up some details on what you can do to get a replacement if your set is bad.

  • There’s an interview in this month’s Maxim with Kevin in which he discusses why he wanted to do Green Arrow, the Superman fiasco and Sam Raimi’s directing of the Spider-Man movie. Nothing we all haven’t heard before, but entertaining nonetheless. We’ll post it if we come across it.
  • J&SBSB gets a brief mention in Entertainment Weekly this week under a blurb about Shannon Elizabeth.
  • Chris Rock makes a brief mention of the new flick in an interview with the Mr. Showbiz website. Here’s a snippet:
What’s up with the Kevin Smith project you’re involved in?

I think I’m doing a day on it. It’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Jay and Silent Bob have been little supporting characters in all of Kevin’s movies and this time, they get their own movie.

Describe your friendship with Kevin.

We’re both the same age, we both love Run-D.M.C., and that’s pretty much it. That’s what keeps me and Kevin together. If he starts any Run-D.M.C. record, I can finish it. Any verse, any time.

You can read the whole interview HERE.

  • The Official Website of Jason Lee’s next flick, Heartbreakers can be found HERE. You can also watch a high-quality trailer for the flick HERE.
  • Kevin and Jason in a still from Dogma are used as the link to “Pop Culture Meets Star Wars” reference archive at the Jedinet website. They’re also in the site’s current poll topic.
  • Looks like Wizard World will also have coverage from the set starting soon. Here’s the latest from their site:
Even though production on Kevin Smith’s “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” is more than half done, casting on the hotly anticipated project continues to leak out. The latest to join the epic comedy include “Final Destination”’s Ali Larter and none other than Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. Additionally, Empire Online has revealed that Mark Hamill will have a lightsaber fight with Jay and Bob in the film. WizardWorld.com will soon be providing twice weekly updates from the JSBSB set until the conclusion of filming. Because we’re insidery like that.

  • Finally today, here’s a pic of Lee in action during the old skating days. Enjoy.
