Kevin: Carrie Fisher & Shannon Doherty On Board!

  • Kevin just dropped in to the board with some pretty big news on two of the film’s cameos…Both Carrie Fisher and (most unbelievable) Shannon Doherty will appear in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. The Fisher thing we’d actually learned about a few weeks ago, but weren’t sure if that was to remain a secret until release (as the trades said nil on the subject), but now that it’s public knowledge, hey, spread the word! 2 Star Wars alumni in one View Askew flick. Pretty cool eh? Here’s that information and more from the man himself:
One more day, kids. One more day of L.A. shooting, and then it’s back to Jersey on Wednesday to finish the beast off with who it all started, appropriately enough: Brian and Jeff.

Last week was a hoot. Carrie Fisher on Tuesday (great cameo; weird, great lady), and Tracey Morgan on Thursday (who delivered, hysterically, like mad). Friday was a quartet of folks you’ll all recognize (can’t say much more than that), and yesterday we did some clean-up work with bits and pieces we hadn’t gotten around to yet.

But Wednesday was pretty historical for us, as it saw the return of a distinguished, high-profile alumnus to the Askewniverse. Yes, children, six years later (almost to the day) we were once again knee-deep in Doherty (Shannon, that is). And it was wonderful.

There was also another pretty funny cameo that day, but saying anything more about him would give away too much. Suffice to say, he’s a good egg.

Still keep an eye out for that ‘Entertainment Tonight’ piece (maybe this week?), as well as ‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘E!’ pieces. And if I can convince the powers-that-be, there may be a ‘net-only teaser trailer in your future.

Also, for those of you who are into comics, ‘Green Arrow’ #2 hits stores this week. If you’ve orderd ‘GA’ #1’s from the Stash (or anything else for that matter), bear with us: I haven’t had time to sign a lot of stuff lately. But rest assured – while I’m home, I’ll be scribbling on every piece of merchandise I can get my swelled hands on so that Big Bry can turn it around ASAP to you folks, and I can keep taking your hard-earned rupies, marks, pounds, etc. (sp? on the monetary units).

Five more days in front and behind the camera, and I hang up the green and black coat for good. Wow.

J&SBSB vs. AP2?

  • By now you’ve probably all heard of the American Pie 2 vs. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back thing at the box office this August, with both of them currently projecting August 10th as a release date. Well, we’re not sure what to make of it, but one site has thrown up a comparison of sorts, with you can check out HERE. Our opinion is that there’s no way both of these films will opt to go head-to-head with a release date this summer, and with J&SBSB already almost finished, and Pie just getting underway, you can probably expect Pie to opt for a late summer or early Fall bow. Whatcha think?

  • There’s a British Comic Con (Comics 2001) where they’re doing something pretty cool this year: Making a custom deck of playing cards illustrated by various artists, selling the decks and auctioning the originals off for charity.

Among this art is a Duncan Fegredo painting of Jay and Silent Bob, for the 2 of Diamonds. (The Ace of Spades is co-illustrated by Matt Wagner, artist of the J&SB story in One Double Feature 1, but he’s drawing his character Grendel.)

  • The latest WizardWorld piece on Jay & Bob has been posted, regarding Kevin running around with a monkey on his back (with this picture to accompany it).
  • Affleck was recently featured in US Weekly’s Internet section, where he gives ViewAskew.com props for being a site on the net he visits frequently due to the interactivity. Affleck, by the way, will also do a voiceover for the new Diet Coke ads which start airing tonight.

IGN FILMFORCE: How did you like working with Jason Lee?

WEAVER: It was fun. You know, I loved him in Mumford. I’m glad they chose him because he’s not the… you know… kind of perfect young handsome lead. I thought they (Jennifer and Jason) worked beautifully together, and I thought their relationship was really fun and funny. We just had a fantastic cast.

IGN FILMFORCE: With Jason, that was an interesting strawberries and cream scene…

WEAVER: Yes. (laughing) It was horrible; I had to eat a lot of strawberries that day.

  • Speaking of Lee, here’s a small new article on him from the New York Daily News.
  • Chasing Amy is currently selected as one of BestBuy.com’s essential special edition DVDs.

  • And finally today, a funny little find from a Florida newspaper…Check out the highlighted area.
