• We have just received confirmation that the Dogma Special Edition DVD DOES have a new release date scheduled…That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s a little later than you might have expected…JUNE 26, 2001. That’s right, folks, that’s when the sucker’s scheduled. The packaging remains the same, from what we’ve heard. That’s about all we know right now as far as that goes.

We’re also hearing rumors of a July 1st release date in the UK for the disc from a lot of you. We can’t confirm anything about that one yet, but that MAY be a date in relation to the June release here, so it certainly is possible. At any rate, stay tuned and we’ll have more information for you as we can find it.

• As promised, a few more exclusive shots direct from the camera of Scott Mosier to our readers here at News Askew. When Kevin noticed that most of the shots we’d taken of the set from our visit would be spoiler-ridden and couldn’t be released, he thought it would be a good idea that we share some non-spoiler type stuff from the vast array of photos that Scott’s taken so far. So, above, we’ve got a few more great shots. They of course expand, just click on them for a much larger, nicer shot. Enjoy, and look for more right here next Monday!

• Mysterio’s done an excellent interview with Ben Affleck, thanks to Ben giving up some of his time as well as some nice questions from AICN’s readers. Part 2 of that interview, straight from the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back set, is now online along with more of his on-set experiences (including the start of the Bluntcave stuff that we were on set for last month). • The DVD Angle website has just posted up a brand new interview (conducted last Friday) with Jason Lee. You can read it all right HERE. It’s a quick, nice little interview.

The “Almost Famous” DVD, which arrives in stores tomorrow, also mentions “View Askew 5” as an upcoming film for Jason in the cast bios section.

• Okay, so we’ve got no Dogma SE DVD still, and this is just gonna make it worse. Though maybe this is a good sign that the thing’s getting prepped for release finally? Who knows. Anyway, here goes.

A trailer for the Special Edition DVD is showing up on VHS rental casettes this week, two we at least know of for sure are “Cruel Intentions 2” and “The Tao Of Steve”. The trailer starts out quite strangely with an older woman warning the audience about sinful stuff “masquerading as entertainment.” Then we get Loki’s line “Oh, lighten up.” It then just goes on to advertise some of the special features and show some of the menus. You’ll catch a few snippets of the commentary, the documentary, and more. It certainly whets the appetite for what’s to come. Alas, still no release date, but we feel it’s a pretty good sign. Anyone out there from Columbia/Tristar wanna check in and let us know what’s up?

• As some of you may know, it was ShoWest weekend, the HUGE film convention where a lot of new trailers, movie info, and other coolness happens. This year was a good one for Askew, as two cast members, Shannon Elizabeth and Chris Rock, were given awards. Here’s Michael, our scooper, with the latest from the convention:

• TONS of you wrote in to let us know about Ben Affleck’s surprise appearance on SNL last night, reprising his role as a friend of one of the “Boston Teenagers” (Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch). The scoopers are too numerous to mention you all, but thanks for sending the news in!
• IGN Filmforce continued stirring up the rumor mill with this story on the Green Arrow movie buzz. It would appear that, if it were to happen, Warner Brothers would be the studio to release it.
• George Carlin (who’s got a hilarious cameo in J&SBSB will recieve a much-deserved lifetime acheivement award at the American Comedy Awards this year.
• Check out page 28 of the March 2001 issue of Mademoiselle Magazine for a blurb and photo of Jason Lee. Lee is mentioned as “Hollywood’s hot new hyphenate” because of his reputation as a skater-turned-star. The cover features Lee’s co-star in “Heartbreakers”, Jennifer Love Hewitt.
• Finally today, speaking of “Heartbreakers”, the verdict is in as a couple readers checked out the sneak preview of the film last night. Here’s what they had to say:

• Hey folks…Just wanted to take the time to catch up on some newsbites before the weekend kicks off. We decided that Mondays would be a better day to post new Scott Mosier pics from the J&SBSB set, for better visibility as well as maybe a good reason for some of you to get out of bed and come back to work. So, look for 3 brand new, never before seen pics on Monday.

Something else to think/talk about – Has the site been running slower for you lately, namely, since the new forums went online? The forums are quite active and doing very well, however, we’d hate to think that they were causing the site to load slower as this remains our most important focus. So, what do you folks think? Especially those of you with 56k modems? The server that this site runs on can only take so much, we assume, and we may be pushing the limits of bandwidth with the Forums running so actively.

Finally today, I just wanted to thank some folks that I’ve been meaning to for quite some time now for their help and advice a few weeks ago when I was looking for some PC hardware. Thanks to Ken Rogers, Derrick Van Vechten, Jeff Field, & Jason Glover. By the way, you know that the both of us are suckers for all the reality shows out there…And there’s two cool flicks out there right now that it would be really cool to see. If anyone’s got screener copies of “Series 7” or “Battle Royale” (which is probably really rare), drop me a line. As always, your tapes are safe, won’t get bootlegged, etc etc etc. Oh, and has anyone seen “Memento” yet? Rumor has it that it’s pretty cool and the trailer was intriguing. • Some nice, high profile mentions in the latest ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, with Jessica Alba on the cover. On page 62, in the books section, you can read a review for green arrow, which received an A-. Very high marks! Even cooler, on page 70, under internet there lies a section of “heatwave” (a list of all the hot summer movie sites). It plugs Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back with the likes of Tomb Raider, A.I., Pearl Harbor, and others.
• Anderson Jones of E! Online reports that Hollywood has taken notice of the red hot sales on the newly relaunched DC Comics title Green Arrow. The comic features a revamping of the character by filmmaker Kevin Smith. He’s quoted as saying “film producers are already sniffing around.” Could be interesting to see where this one goes. • Brian O’Halloran is doing the production “An Unhappy Woman” with the New Jersey Reportory Company. It’s a romantic comedy by Michael T. Folie. It’s described as “A dark comedy about the search for happiness in a futuristic American society.” Performance happen in Long Branch until March 11, 2001. Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Catch it if you can.
• Those of you anxious to see Jason Lee in “Heartbreakers” might be able to catch it tomorrow night, as sneak previews of the film are happening around the country. Check with your local theaters!
