FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL 2001 PREVIEW PARTY

The temperature’s topping ninety and smoke is in the air…must be summer in Central Florida! When the heat gets to be too much, what better way to cool your heels than in a dark theater, catching the finest in independent cinema? The 2001 Florida Film Festival is just around the corner (June 8 to 17), and we’re giving you the chance to take a first look at this year’s incredible line up.

Every May, the Florida Film Festival kicks off with our annual Festival Preview Party, and for the Fest’s tenth anniversary, the party is going to be bigger than ever. The Fest staff invites you to join us and hundreds of other Central Florida film lovers on Wednesday, May 30 from 6:30 to 10:00pm at Tabu (formerly the Beacham Theater) in Downtown Orlando for a sneak preview of the films and events of Florida Film Festival 2001. The party also marks the publication of The Orlando Weekly’s annual Festival Preview Guide, which will give you the first look at the full ten days of events. This special event is free and open to all Festival supporters until 8:30 pm.

SPECIAL GUESTS FOR FESTIVAL 2001

To celebrate our tenth year and our being named “one of theten best film festivals in the world”, the Festival is pulling outall the stops when it comes to special guests. Following is a listof confirmed guests and the films they will be screening atFestival 2001.

Sunday June 10 at 12:00pm Enzian Theater
Actor Joe Pantoliano will screen “Bound”

Thursday June 14 at 7:00pm Enzian Theater
Director Allison Anders will screen her new feature “ThingsBehind The Sun” which was filmed last year in Florida.

Friday June 15 at 6:30pm Enzian Theater
Actor/Director Campbell Scott will screen an adaptationof “Hamlet” in which he plays the title role. Mr. Scottalso co-directed the film.

Saturday June 16 at 1:00 pm Enzian Theater
Actress Leelee Sobieski will screen the James Ivory directed “A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries” also starring Kris Kristofferson and Barbara Hershey.

Sunday June 17 at 9:30 pm Enzian Theater
Actor Jason Lee will screen his 1997 film “Chasing Amy”.

Tickets for each Festival event go on sale the morning of Thursday,May 31. Many of the popular events sell out quickly, so buy yourtickets early! Don’t want to get left out?
