  • Looks like that Pearl Habor edition of Millionaire with Affleck has been nixed, due to the fact that US Senators were involved and that it violated Senate guidelines. No replacement shows or anything involving Affleck is planned.

  • Miramax really plugs the heck out of their releases…Check out this MAJOR Dogma plug on the back of the “All The Pretty Horses” DVD with Matt Damon, which announces “AND DON’T MISS ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMANCE BY MATT DAMON IN DOGMA!”.

Trailer Mirrors Available & More Details…

May 10th @ 1:54 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • A few words on server problems, the trailer, and stuff. First of all, if you haven’t noticed, News Askew has been VERY slow for the past day and a half. This is all due to the incredibly high demand for The Trailer. The problem is that we’re all sharing server space, and all of the trailer locations that were listed yesterday were basically taxing the same server and bandwidth. We’re working on new mirrors, though, that’s the good news, which should be MUCH faster and we highly recommend that you use if you want to download a copy of the the trailer. If you have a server that you can mirror the trailer on, LET US KNOW.

Assuming most of you are like the rest of us, and want the biggest and best version of the thing, we’ve got the largest and highest quality QuickTime version mirrored at the following locations:

TeamOverkill.com – 480 x 176 (11.8 megs)
MultiMediaReview.com – 480 x 176 (11.8 megs)
Homepage.Mac.com – 480 x 176 (11.8 megs)

MultiMediaReview.com – 240 x 87 (2 megs)

Thanks to Bill for the new mirror up there. If you want to see the trailer, AND to lessen the burden on the News Askew server, we URGE you to surf over to these alternate sites to get the trailer. Due to the Dark Horizons mention yesterday as well as the post at AICN, not to mention our regular daily traffic and all the fans from the WWWBoard, things are REALLY busy. We apologize for any e-mails that bounced back to you, and also for the slow speeds in talkbacks, the forums, and otherwise.

Just a few words about the internet trailer – This is by no means a representation of what the official teaser and trailer for the film will be. Kevin and Scott (and maybe others) put this gem together with the die-hard fan in mind. That’s why you’re seeing all the in-jokes, references to past films, and the like. While this stuff certainly will be a highlight of the flick for many of us, the film itself is not designed ONLY for fans. The internet trailer, however, was. Hope that sheds a bit of light on why the trailer plays like it does. It’s what Kevin figured all of you would want to see the most. It’s a great piece of work.

We’ll be back with a full, regular update soon (as soon as we can get enough bandwidth to post some!). Thanks for your patience. This incredibly high demand bodes VERY well for the film.

Post Your Comments On The Trailer…

  • We’d love to hear your thoughts on the “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” Internet trailer (see links just below and over at the Scooping The Monkey page. A special area at the News Askew Forums has been created for discussion of all those amazing gems that were carefully spliced together to create the exciting teaser trailer for the flick. Surf over and give us your thoughts!

By the way, our servers are getting HAMMERED with requests for the trailer today, so bear with us in regards to the slowness of everything. After the initial rush of downloads, things should go back to normal later in the day. Thanks for visiting…More updates later.

JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK – THE INTERNET TRAILER

May 9th @ 2:12 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith

  • Alright, so we scammed ya a little bit. News Askew is proud to present your first, internet exclusive look at a trailer for “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”. That’s right…Before the theaters get it, before it winds up on television, you’re seeing a trailer that was designed exclusively for you, the View Askew Internet fan. The trailer runs 1 minute and 22 seconds, and features some really classic lines along with glimpses at pretty much every character in the flick. You’re gonna laugh. Trust me.

The trailer has appeared at a website called Moviepoopshot.com, which is a clever site that’s basically going to play directly into the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back film itself (you’ll see, or the astute of you might even figure it out). Looks like there’s some very creative web marketing that’s going to tie into all the other promotional stuff going on as well (the site promotes an upcoming “Bluntman & Chronic” feature. At this point, we’re not sure if this site will continue to receive updates, though we think it’d be a great touch.

In the meantime, we’ve provided a LOCAL MIRROR of the trailer here for your viewing pleasure. Kev’s post regarding the site, by the way, is as follows:

I am sick and fucking tired off every asshole and their two-bit mother mouthing off on our flicks!

I just found this new website, moviepoopshoot.com, and while they don’t seem to be very old, even THESE motherfuckers are jumping all over my dick.

Go read it and see what I mean.

Go on.

Read it.

Every little bit of it.

Closely.

Especially the fucking “shooting gallery” numb-nuts’ opinions.

I’ll wait…

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING FROM KEVIN…

May 8th @ 10:16 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith

  • Wow, it sounds like something major’s going down, and we’re going to be anxiously awaiting this post, coming in less than 2 hours…Here’s a post Kevin made just moments ago:
That’s right – a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT is coming tonight, 9:00pm, Pacific Time (midnight for you east coasters).

I’ve had it up to here, and I’m going to honestly set the record straight on how I REALLY feel about ABC, Miramax, the Catholic League, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Entertainment Weekly, Ain’t It Cool News, Wizard Magazine, Alex Ross, Peter David, Warren Ellis, the movie industry, and anyone else who’s managed to piss me off over the course of the last year or so.

The other shoe is about to drop.

Axes are going to fall.

No one is safe.

Because I’m going to finally… FINALLY… give some motherfuckers in cyberworld the bitch-slapping they’ve been begging for for months.

Spread the word. Tell your friends. Tonight, the gloves come off, and it’s no more Mister Nice-Guy. Watch career suicide as it happens!

I’m in a bridge-burning mood, folks. Grab your marshmallows.

News Askew will be awaiting this announcement and be back with comments and more as soon as it’s made. Stay close to those PCs, folks.

EXCLUSIVE: Sum Of All Fears On Set Pics!

May 8th @ 5:21 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • An anonymous source sent us a few close-up shots of Affleck and crew on the set of “The Sum Of All Fears” in Canada from a couple weeks back. They were taken at Mirabelle airport near Montreal, and at St.Jean-Sur-Richelou, an old militarybase outside of Montreal. Shooting of the film continues in Canada, though no futher set details or release information has been leaked on the flick lately. Affleck’s certainly been keeping busy and working on a lot of flicks, though, that’s for sure. All the pics do enlarge, by the way, just click on ‘em.

  • Your second chance to win a Chris Bailey-signed Clerks cartoon DVD print is now up over at animationondvd.com. Surf over, answer the question, and good luck.
  • For those of you keeping track of Matt & Ben’s Project Greenlight, Zentertainment reports:
‘STOLEN SUMMER’ CASTINGS

Aidan Quinn (Practical Magic) has committed to starring in STOLEN SUMMER, the PROJECT GREENLIGHT drama written and directed by nline contest winner Pete Jones. Kevin Pollak and Brian Dennehy also star in the film, about a young boy searching for a way to get his dying Jewish friend into Heaven. The production of the MIRAMAX film will be documented for a 13-part HBO series.

  • Speaking of Affleck, he’s featured on the cover of the new Newsweek, which features a story on the upcoming Pearl Harbor. The only question is, will the flick take in as much as The Mummy Returns did last weekend? Our coverage of the film here, which will surely have a TON of press, will be limited due to all the other stuff going on more closely relating to View Askew.
  • In the liner notes of the new album by Blues Traveler, “Bridges” (which comes out this week,) buried in the middle of the ‘thank you’ section, it reads:
“…it only remains for me to take off all of my clothes paint myself bright purple climb to highest spire in town and cry for all to hear, I love you Amy Greuter… Kevin Smith was right sooner or later we will all be ‘Chasing Amy.’”
  • All this month the Emerald Theater in Mt. Clemens, Michigan is showing one of the View Askew film every Wednesday night. Last Wednesday was Dogma, this Wednesday is Clerks, next Wednesdat is Chasing Amy, and the following Wednesday is Mallrats. The shows all start at 9 PM (they’re also showing an episode of Clerks TCS before each of the movies, by the way). Tickets are only $2. More info can be found HERE.
  • Finally today, a fan has made 2 MP3 “mixes” of sorts titled “Silent Bob Bio” and “Bodie Bio” which you can get respectively HERE and HERE. I can’t listen to or test these from work, so listen at your own risk!

EXCLUSIVE: Three New Pics From The J&SBSB Set!

May 7th @ 7:18 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Once again, thanks to Jamie Anderson, Scott Mosier, and Kevin Smith, we’re happy to present three never before seen photos from the set of “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” for ya on this Monday morning. The first shot above features one of (if not THE) first looks at Affleck reprising the role of Holden, as Jay & Bob follow him into the loft. Note the cool new Nails artwork done by Ratface, Scott & crew towards the center as well (guess it’s kinda hard to miss). Next is a shot of Eliza, though honestly we’re not sure if this one’s in the context of the film or just some goofing around off camera. Finally, one of the Mosier classics, an outdoor scene featuring Will and the other police. That’s AD Tim Byrd to the front and right of him, by the way. Thanks again to View Askew for the photos, and we’ll see ya next Monday with three more.

Today we’re very pleased to bring you the menu screenshots from the upcoming “A Better Place” DVD (it won’t be long now, folks) as well as a few other odds and ends, including that scoop that a lot of you saw, Kevin’s new plug in Ebert’s Answer Man column, and more.
