• Sounds like Kevin and Jay were back in character yesterday for the Stroke 9 “Kick Some Ass” video shoot in New Jersey! Greg from the band posted this diary entry and also checked in with us here at the site today. He hopes to have some pics from the shoot online soon. Here’s Greg:

Like “Can’t Even Tell” and “Build Me Up, Buttercup” before them, this one will complete the View Askew video trilogy. We’re looking forward to seeing it all over the music channels.

• Sure, the DVD is arriving next month, but there’s nothing like catching a flick on the big screen. Vincent Pereira is booked to screen his flick, “A Better Place”, and do the usual Q&A and autograph session (so bring those DVDs!) at theUniversity of North Carolina, Charlotte, on September 27th. It’s free for UNCC students and $3 for the general public. Can’t beat that price! The fun happens at 7 PM in Mcknight Hall, on the 3rd floor of the Cone University Center. • JoBlo has added a new unofficial Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back screensaver. We’re adding the file to our Files Askew area if you’d like to give it a try. Kevin Karstens is the dude who created this one.
• For those in the UK who are importing the Dogma SE and disappointed that the trailer is not the original one with the original score, a DVD magazine (Total Movie) this month has a free DVD on the front which has the Dogma trailer with the original music on it. Because Film Four released the film, the start of the trailer has Matt Damon’s voice over a black screen (where the Lions Gate logo appeared) and the end credits also have a black background where you can still hear the triplets “slash” reality. Sounds a bit closer to what was originally out there.
• Comic Book Galaxy has a new interview with Michael Avon Oeming, Bluntman & Chronic artist, where he talks a bit about his upcoming projects including that very book…Including the fact that he drew tons of penises for the book. Scary. Consider yourself officially warned! Oemig also appears in an article posted HERE at Brian Michael Bendis’ Comics Community message board.
• Jay and Silent Bob make the poll at MyVideoStore running through next Tuesday. Stop by and cast your vote!

• Well, suddenly that counter’s past 6 MILLION already! The site is going nuts lately, thanks to lots of plugs from other sites, word of mouth, and of course the trailers and the new film arriving this August. Over the past 4 years, we’ve been growing at a geometric rate, and we’d again like to say thanks to everyone for sticking with us, for passing the word on about the site to others, for the constant support, for sending in the scoops, and for continung the tradition of proving that View Askew fans are some of the best in the movie biz. Thanks again, everyone, for keeping the site going. We’re happy to have spent another million hits with ya, and look forward to the next bunch.

Today we’re also implementing some bugfixes in the Talkback system, with MUCH thanks to Dave Moore for his help. Hopefully, these changes will keep the Talkbacks from acting funny and crashing under heavy posts and large numbers. We’ll be attempting to squash some bugs here at the site to make your stay more pleasurable. If anything seems majorly wrong, let us know and we’ll get to it ASAP.

Finally, (and I recall someone offering these services, though I lost your mail), we’re looking for some experts out there in the latest Quicktime compression (and otherwise)…It would be nice to post some compressed MPEGs or MOV files of all the video that’s been coming our way lately. So, if you know the tricks on this, drop Chris a line with some tips. We’re looking for info and tips, not for someone to do the encoding for us. Just a way to present some smaller clips that those of you with slower modems can download without much hassle.

Alright then, let’s get on with today’s chunk ‘o news…

• Well here’s some interesting news…We’re receiving reports that Buena Vista is moving their film “Bubble Boy” to a release date of August 24th. With Disney running BV and Dimension, who are of course releasing Jay & Silent Bob Strike back on that date, this is a bit of a confusing move. We’re not sure if that’s just a tentative move, but with the Eliza Dushku thriller Soul Survivors moving into September, before this move, Jay & Silent Bob OWNED August 24th. Hopefully this change doesn’t mean another date switch.

Our advice? Two comedies on one weekend don’t mix well, even though the subject matter is different. Move Bubble Boy to early Fall, give Jay & Bob their own weekend, plug the hell out of it with theatrical one-sheets, a wide released trailer, and some major network commercial time. With that cast, it just can’t lose. Good luck, everyone! Here’s hoping we’ll see a BIG marketing push from Dimension real soon.

• Okay, we know we promised that yesterday would be the last, but fans are demanding that we post a link to this one (Sorry for the scooper that sent this in yesterday, as your e-mail is gone)…This review and look at Dogma’s history appears at DVD Journal and goes in-depth on a TON of circumstances surrounding the film’s release, the stuff that’s contained inside it, AS WELL AS the DVD content itself. Folks are enjoying this piece a great deal, so we felt it warranted a mention here. It’s too long to carry in full, so here’s a snippet:

• In the latest issue of PSM Magazine, an excellent unofficial magazine dedicated to the home video console, the staff chose, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back as #2 in their list of must-see movies (though they picked American Pie 2 as their #1, hmmm, come on guys!). Anyway, my subscription on PSM is getting low soon, guys, so if you’re checking out the site, hook a brother up! And hey, take note – Jay & Bob DID come in ahead of that other big August sequel, Rush Hour 2.
• According to Stroke 9’s diary section, an entry on June 24 says:

Sounds like filming happened yesterday and probably today, as scheduled! We don’t have any direct coverage on the video shoots, alas, but we’ll keep ya posted as soon as we hear what went down.

• A brief blurb appears on the Jam Showbiz site, regarding some comments Kevin makes on the Dogma SE commentary regarding Linda Fiorentino and Janeane Garofalo. You’ll hear them firsthand on the newly released DVD, in stores today!
• Film Threat online has now posted those reviews we mentioned yesterday, along with an older Mallrats DVD review as well. The pieces are very extensive, so if you like, check them all out :Mallrats, Dogma, and Clerks: Uncensored
• The trailer for the “A Better Place” DVD is making the rounds…The Coming Soon website has just added the file. If you missed it, check it out! We’re hoping for some official news on the disc from Vincent any day now…

• Finally today, here’s an interesting shot back from the Dogma days we’ve never seen. This one comes from a strange piece featuring pictures of Celebrities on the telephone. They’ll compile anything these days! Click the thumbnail for a better look. We’ve also got 2 screenshots of Jason Lee in “Big Trouble”. • Now that the release is here, it’s time to mention that the Dogma SE DVD DOES indeed hold two hidden easter eggs. Can you find them? There’s one on each disc. The first disc contains “How Jay Thinks Kevin Directs” (on disc one) and the second disc’s is titled “How Kevin Directs”. Happy Hunting! • The reviews of the new DVDs keep a-rollin’ on in. Mike Dequina’s got 2 new positive pieces on the Dogma DVD and the Clerks cartoon DVD, which should soon hit Film Threat as well. • Jay & Bob see a mention in the latest issue of FHM Magazine (July/August), in their “Summer Movie Blowout”. It’s a very short blurb with no new material, really, but worth a mention.
• Looks like Brian O’Halloran is scheduled to be on “The Show” on 102.1 the Edge in Toronto, Canada next Monday, the2nd of July. “The Show” airs from 5:30 AM – 10:00 AM EST.
• Mentions of the Jay & Silent Bob soundtrack are starting to appear on MTV News with this mention of the PJ Harvey track being on there. The track appears on Harvey’s latest studio album as well.

• Here’s a couple screenshots from the spoof flick “The Blair Clown Project” where Kevin & Jay appeared.

• If you’re in the spirit of the new flick, maybe you wanna skin your WinAMP MP3 Player with the new logo? A download of this skin is now available over at SCOOPING THE MONKEY.
• Thanks To The Mac Mind for the mention regarding the new J&SBSB trailers here at the site. At their site, they get a mention due to the Macintosh computers featured in the film.

• Finally today, what if Jay & Silent Bob crossed over into the Simpsons? One fan has his artistic opinion.

• Well, we haven’t CRASHED the server yet, but the demand on the new trailer sure is slowing us down! We’re working on getting even more power to speed stuff up, but in the meantime, you might have better luck (and take some of the strain off us) trying some other sites out first.
