• Thanks again to artist Mike Oeming, we’ve got three never before seen pages and sketches from the upcoming Bluntman & Chronic graphic novel this summer. We’ve only got one more week left of these, so enjoy them while they last! • Here’s a nice blast from the past…Some “B-Roll” footage from a Chasing Amy electronic press kit has been discovered and passed on to us. There’s some neat stuff here, and a good variety too, including the crew filming the rain scene, some stuff in the car, the “Archie” discussion, and lots more. It’s like looking into a time capsule seeing Kevin & Scott directing the likes of Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, and Joey Adams before the world knew who they were. This one’s a very long MPEG file, so we recommend you only try downloading it if you’ve got a fast connection (It’ll likely take half your day on a 56k modem). Enjoy!

• MSNBC recently ran a special on Ben Affleck called “Headliners & Legends”. This was on VERY late at night and we hadn’t heard about it, hence the non mention. If we hear of it airing again, we’ll let ya know. Anyway, we hear the show was good for anyone who wants to know where the guy comes from. Both his personal and acting history are well examined. They talk about his work with Kevin pretty extensively as the turning point in Affleck’s career. Some interview time was spent with Kevin, a clip of Mallrats was shown (though the narrator called it “forgettable”), and quite a bit of time was spent on Chasing Amy.
• Will “Vulgar” share a release date with Jay & Silent Bob? The current schedule says so. Lions Gate‘s slate still lists the flick for release on August 24th. Though we believe they’ll start with a limited release, it’d still be kinda neat to see 2 View Askew productions hit theatres on the same day. It could happen!
• Finally today, in Terry Moore’s “Strangers in Paradise” #41 (the new issue) a reader wrote in and said:

We’ve just received word that Entertainment Tonight will air a segment on Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back TONIGHT at 7 PM! Sorry for the late notice. We’ll do our best to capture some video or screenshots of the segment for those of you that miss it. If you’re reading this in time, though, check your local listings and tune on in! Most networks do air the show on CBS around 7:00 PM local time. The website for the show doesn’t list the piece, so if this info is correct, it’ll likely be a quickie.

• Here’s a video that should serve as a good test of the new server, so check it out. TS3K & Dr. Dude have created a very clever Clerks: The Animated Series trailer, using audio from the original Clerks trailer, the TV show, and scenes from the Clerks Cartoon DVD. The result is quite cool. Click HERE to download a full-size MPEG video of the film, and be sure you’ve got the latest Quicktime player installed (both for this AND the new trailer coming this Thursday!).
• Ifilm (www.ifilm.com) has a “Movies to Watch, Movies to Beware, Faces to Watch,” section, and guess who’s on the faces to watch list? That’s right, our very own Jason Mewes. Check it out HERE. Speaking of which Mewes celebrates a birthday today. Wish him a happy one!
• Many questions have been circulating around the possible RCE encoding of the new Dogma SE DVD. It seems that some Columbia Tristar titles are using this technology, and some are not. RCE prevents a disc from playing on region-free DVD players, those overseas design to play discs for all over the world. We’re still looking for a definite answer on this, but just wanted to warn those of you overseas who are buying the disc: It MIGHT not play in your region-free machine. We’ll post a definite answer on RCE and the Dogma SE as soon as we’ve got one.
• We mentioned this way back in April, but Diamond Comics have announced that the Chasing Dogma trade paperback is indeed on schedule for a release this summer. Here’s their report:

• The July issue of Movieline features an article on Shannen Doherty in which it’s mentioned that her first big-screen appearace, post-”Charmed”, is going to be in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Ali Larter also appears on page 33, discussing the award she won for Breakthrough Performance at the Third Annual Movieline Young Hollywood Awards.
• The Total Film website is running a new poll, with the question “Which of these was the best directorial debut?” The choices are The Virgin Suicides, The Way Of The Gun, Spanking The Monkey, and Clerks. At presstime, Clerks was still WAY ahead of the game.

• It’s Monday morning, and you know what that means, folks. Yep, that’s right, 3 more pics from the set of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back! These three all come the original Scott Mosier collection. First, Kev gives some direction to Shannon, for what looks like the Mooby’s scene. Next, a candid shot of Mewes taking a break between takes. And finally, Ali Larter, Eliza Dushku, and Jennifer Smith take a breather behind the viewing monitor…And take a look at who’s lurking in the background there on the left! • Been busy around these parts lately, hasn’t it? Well, with the big Dogma SE review, the documentary, and lots of other stuff on the horizon, it doesn’t look like it’ll be letting up anytime soon. Hope you’re enjoying the ride! A few words on that review, by the way. We meant to post a video capture of the Stash spot but forgot to, will have that added as well as info on the second commentary, easter eggs, and more soon. We’ll keep you posted on that revision and hopefully have some more insight on the disc itself from Vincent and Kevin once they have a chance to check it out (we somehow got a REALLY early copy of this one!)

Catching up on stuff, there ARE also reviews for the Clerks DVD and a few other special pieces on the horizon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. It’s time to get caught up on some old business before the barrage of news that’s gonna hit as the release of J&SBSB draws closer. Speaking of which, we’ve got a lot of news AND a new poll topic for ya today, so surf on down:

• Listen up, Aussies: According to www.melbournemovies.com.au, the release date for J&SBSB is sometime in October. Most likely they’ll start it up 2 weeks after Rush Hour 2 comes out, just like they’re doing here in the States.
• The offical Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back shirts are reportedly out and about…So if you ordered from the Stash or your local comic shop, look for ‘em soon!
• There are a couple of View Askew mentions in an interview with SeannWilliam Scott that ran in today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Here’s therelevant part:

• The trailer for the new Jason Lee Movie “Big Trouble” is being shown with Pearl Harbor in select areas. Look for it if you’d like a chance to catch it on the big screen. Speaking of Lee, if you’re one of those folks who missed out on getting tickets to his Orlando appearance, we hear that sometimes waiting in the standby line can get ya in. It’s always worth a shot!
• Finally today, news on two Midnight “Clerks” screenings, June 22 and 23, Main Street Cinema in Clearwater, Florida (that’s the Tampa/St. Petersburg area). Admission is $5. For information, call (727) 725-0003.

• Today, we’re proud to present an internet and world exclusive: Your first look at the Dogma Special Edition DVD! Yep, this 2-disc set is sure to be the crown jewel, and one of the most essential items to any View Askew fan’s collection. The Dogma:SE features an INCREDIBLE amount of stuff, including 2 commentary tracks, over 100 minutes of deleted scenes, storyboards, interactive menus, and more. Yes, the documentary originally planned for inclusion is not on here, but you can read our Wednesday update for a review of that.

Please note: The disc is reviewed here entirely including the main commentary track with the cast and crew together. A second, more technical track, featuring just Kevin, Scott, and Vincent, is also on the disc and will be added in a couple of days. It’ll be easier to watch and review a second commentary after not already watching over 4 hours of film and material. We’ll let you know when the review is updated with information on the second commentary track. We just wanted to have this one up for you as soon as possible.

• Kevin put up a quick post just to inform everyone of the latest doings out there on the west coast. Sounds like everything is going spectacularly AND that we’ll have a new surprise for ya in just under a week. Check it out:

• Current running time of the flick is 102 minutes. That’s what we’ll be testing next week in Arizona. We cut eight minutes (hopefully the right eight minutes) from the version we tested a few weeks ago.
• MCA Universal is doing the soundtrack. The Stroke 9 song ‘Kick Some Ass’ is the first single, and it’s an excellent tune (I was a big fan of their ‘Little Black BackPack’). When it hits the radio, request it like mad, please.
• The theatrical trailer will probably debut on ‘Scary Movie 2′. There are a few different versions that we’re trying to settle on now.
• We’re almost settled on what the next flick is going to be.
• And the biggest news…Thursday at nine p.m., we’re putting up our SECOND internet-only TRAILER for ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’. Now that we’re on a better, dedicated server, the download should be quicker this time around. This version offers up more plot, and has much more dialogue, so if you’re anal about spoilers, avoid it at all costs…

  …if you can.
