  • So blue, so pretty! DVDActive scores some beautiful high resolution cover art for the March 11th release of Dogma on Blu-Ray, marking the second View Askew Production to hit the format after Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was released last fall. The disc will contain all the fantastic goodies on the Special Edition DVD previously out, but nothing new (other than a crisp new video and sound transfer, we’re assuming):

      * 2.40:1 Widescreen Transfer (1080p)
      * Audio: English Dolby TrueHD 5.1, French Dolby TrueHD 5.1
      * Subtitles: English, English SDH, French, Spanish
      * Cast and Crew Commentary
      * Technical Commentary
      * Deleted Scenes
      * Cast and Crew Outtakes
      * Jay and Bob’s Secret Stash Commercial
      * Storyboards from Three Major Scenes

  • We’re gonna try and seek out a review copy so we can get you folks the scoop on the new transfer quality — We’ll check our usual contacts, though if anyone’s got a connection with Sony, let us know (as they rarely handle a View Askew flick for home release). The dawn of a new era is almost here, View Askew on Blu-Ray!

  • A nice little “Zack & Miri” tidbit today. When we briefly spoke with Jim Norton during a Harrisburg appearance earlier this month, he spoke quite highly of Kevin but seemed unsure of his role in the new film. However, on Opie & Anthony this week, it was reported he was out of studio due to his role in the movie. So, it looks like we’ll see the hilarious comedian onscreen for sure now! Hoorah!
  • Filmstew reports that Celeste Massullo, an artist from Ohio, put together a charity fund raiser of “toilet tattoos” (Custom artwork drawn on toilet bowl lids). One of the celebrity participants is no other than Jason Mewes, though his art is not displayed as part of the piece.
  • What’s Jason Lee up to while “Earl” is on break due to the strike? Why, appearing as Kevin Bacon on web based TV shows, of course. Channel 101 runs an episode of the program “Yacht Rock” with one of our favorite View Askew stars. You can catch it over at YouTube as well. Funny stuff, as they present the story of the movie “Footloose”. If you’re a fan of cheesy 80’s tunes, you’re gonna laugh out loud.
  • Oh but what’s one Lee newsbite without a second? We love obscure stuff like this — Teacher scooper Tom hooks us up with some scannage from a teaching magazine called “Edutopia”. This month, they have an interview with Mr. Lee, which mentions Kevin and Mallrats. Click and read. Simple as that. You’ll learn, among other things, what’s in his “Dream lunchbox”.
  • Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Sean Bailey have announced that their LivePlanet film unit will be disbanding. The banner will remain, but without Damon and Affleck’s involvement, as they have taken new steps in their careers. Their most visible project was the awesome “Project Greenlight” HBO/Bravo series.
