  • The NHL website has posted two new video segments with Kevin, taped at The Rock in Newark, NJ as the Devils participated in this year’s NHl playoffs. In the first segment, Kevin appears on the pregame show to chat up hockey and his love of the game, his Devils playoff experience, the street hockey tourney, and getting free stuff. In the second, you’re treated to the view from his luxurious suite, where he took up residence for every home game of the series, inviting several family members and friends along the way (with your author being a lucky participant for one of the early games, thanks again Mr. Smith).

View each video direct from the NHL website by clicking the links below:

We’d also like to take this moment to promote the NHL and the wonderful game of ice hockey — Pass the word on and check out some playoff games, or at least the Stanley Cup finals this year. And congrats to our local hometown Hershey Bears here in PA, who are once again going to the Calder Cup finals this year. Go Bears!

  • Kevin reports that due to the Memorial Day holiday, no new SModcast will come ’til next week. In case you’re behind, catch up with SMod #86 and prior exclusively at Quick Stop Entertainment.
  • In Part 9 of the highly acclaimed interview series with Lee Stranahan, Kevin talks up “Risking His Life & Starting A New One”. This time, Kevin discusses his life expectancy, new career directions, and his love for the soon to be filmed “A Couple of Dicks”.

Lee’s got at least one more official interview segment on the way, plus some possible outtakes. YouTube has spotlighted the interview clips in 23 countries, and the videos continue to score record traffic. We can’t recommend this great interview enough, one of our faves of Kevin’s career.

  • Our congrats to reader Adam, who recently acquired some official “Dogma” costumes for his collection – Check Adam out showing off Bethany’s bloody shirt, and wearing Jay’s jacket. Some trivia from the owner:

“The fake blood is still a little sticky after all these years, and it’s rendered the fabric quite hard and stiff–it’s almost like a hard plastic plate attached to the fabric. Must have been uncomfortable to wear.”

  • Total Film features “Clerks” in its feature on “11 Movies that Should Be Musicals”:

The film: Quickstop employee Dante (Brian O’Halloran) wasn’t supposed to be at work today. Pissed off and with his girlfriend on his case, he just needs to make it through the day.

Passing time with Randal (Jeff Anderson), the clerk from the adjacent video store, they discuss movies, deal with annoying customers, and play hockey on the roof.

Why It ought to be a musical: It’s one for the college crowd, a cult hit from the word go.

No locations to worry about, and Dante and Randall’s profane, scattershot dialogue would translate perfectly to the stage.

Music & lyrics by… Bruce Springsteen and Kevin Smith. New Jersey’s finest together at last.

Hit songs: ‘I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today’, ‘Down At The Nudie Booth’, ‘I Can Do Without The People In The Video Store’, ‘Happy Scrappy Hero Pup’, ‘I Don’t Care If She’s My Cousin’, ‘Best Of Both Worlds’, ‘I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today (Reprise)’.

Producer’s notes: Stage the production in black and white for authenticity.

    Heck ya — We’d go.
