  • Take a look a funny “Clerks”/”Revenge of the Sith” mash-up, courtesy of Sci-Fi Wire . It’s worth sticking to the very last second, for sure. Fun stuff. We had to scroll a bit down on the page to find the right video.
  • Talk about a stacked room! During a recent “Director’s Roundtable” session, featuring such legends as James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Katheryn Bigelow, Lee Daniels, and Jason Reitman, Reitman tells a unique story about making the Sundance rounds and bumping into Kevin Smith (who makes a funny comment regarding Reitman’s entrance into the filmmaking community). Just to the 4-minute mark of the first video if you wanna get right to it. We recommend you watch the entire set though — Some fantastic talent in one room here. You can bet you’ll see some or ALL of these faces on Oscar day early next year.
  • The IMDB is reporting that the lovely “Parks and Recreation” actress Rashida Jones, whose last tie to the Askewniverse was waaay back in Jeff Anderson’s “Now You Know”, is a cast member of “Cop Out”. We don’t believe we’ve mentioned her name in these circles before though it sounds familiar…Chalk it up as a pretty good rumor (and better if you’ve seen Kevin or other cast mention her involvement). No details on her character at this time.
  • Congrats go out to “A Couple of Dicks” / “Cop Out” crew members Jessie Catherine Fuller and Peyton Brodnax DeWitt Rodgers, who were marred in Manhattan on Saturday.

Steal of The Day: Jay and Silent Bob Ass Poster – SIGNED by KEVIN SMITH…

December 22nd, 2009 @ 3:35 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • You gotta love these steals. It seems like they are just getting cooler and more unique as the holidays approach. This classic Jay & Bob poster from the “Clerks” days comes with an authentic, Kevin Smith signature. For TEN BUCKS! Not just the poster, but signed by Kevin’s very own hand. Probably the cheapest signed item we’ve ever seen. As always, click the poster above for an order — While we think the time for Christmas shipping is past now, it’s still a great late gift or one to give yourself with that inevitable Christmas cash that grandma’s giving ya.

We’re still recovering from the big storm here in the Northeast (bad timing when it gets in the way of family events/travels, shopping, and the like), but we’ve got some news, a Twitter update, and a little contest for ya, all coming up later today. Stay tuned.

It makes a great gift for yourself or the fan in your life this holiday season. As this is a brand new app, it would also be nice if you took a few moments to rate the application through iTunes as well, once you get a look at it.

We’re off to play with the app now, and hope to have some more details and our own inside look — First impressions are fantastic. A beautiful, easy to use interface that’s got it all. Go get it!

SModcast Turns 100!!!

December 15th, 2009 @ 1:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Smith and Mosier celebrate a big day with SModcast #100 today — Yep, 100 FREE episodes have been recorded and made available as of today. Quite an accomplishment. The guys went ahead and instead of doing anything crazy, gave us all what we love — Another fantastic show, clocking in at a massive 2 hours. The show’s now available for free download, yes, FREEEEEEEE….Exclusively at Quick Stop Entertainment. It’ll show up on iTunes late in the week for those who prefer to get it that way. Here’s the brief logline:

SModcast 100: The Yardstick – In which it’s business as usual.

One of the best moments comes early too, when Kevin forgets why they’re talking about the titular item and Scott remembers. Great stuff. These guys are gold. Download and enjoy. Congrats to Kevin and Scott, and our thanks for 100 episodes of hilarity. Kevin tells us the “changes” he hinted at with SModcast will not be to the show itself, but all website-related (a new look/address for SMod, perhaps)? Stay tuned.

Tuesday, at 10:00 AM, this presale link will allow you to secure your tickets to this show before anyone else. You need the password “woobs”. The gig is Saturday, February 6th and a must-see. Kevin always brings down the house, but Toronto gigs just always seem to really ROCK. If you can make it, don’t miss it. Presale runs through Thursday, and the general public gets to grab theirs on Friday.

  • A couple of guys on YouTube thought it would be fun to post a video of their “process” as they attempt to find title replacements for “A Couple of Dicks” with humorous results. We’re secretly rooting for “Jay & Silent Bob Become Black and Bruce Willis and Become Cops and Then Fight Crime”.
  • A Clerks TAS lunchbox for FIVE DOLLARS!?!?!? This is the greatest Secret Stash Holiday Sale we have EVER seen. And we’ve been doing this a while. Do yourself a favor — Click over and pick up some amazing bargains. Totally amazing prices. Buy before this stuff is GONE.
  • Here’s a little more information on that German “Die Hard” clip we ran the other day — Apparently we missed the best part of the joke. From a German-speaking reader:

“The joke here is not that Kevin’s character is called eBay. They speak in a South-German dialect and obviously Bruce has bought that Boba Fett cardboard cutout from Kevin on eBay and finally wants it. Kevin argues that it was a private auction but finally Bruce gets the upper hand when he tells him that he will give him bad rep on eBay if he doesn’t get his Boba Fett.”

Wow, talk about a different movie, eh?

  • Scooper (and Oilers fan) Riss creates this cool Oilers-inspired Kevin Smith logo that we think we look dang cool on a hockey jersey. Nice work, sir.
  • A “Mallrats” reference pops up in this recent entry on “People of Walmart”, a site that collects photos of actual Walmart customers in their natural habitat. Man, there really is a site for everything on the web, isn’t there? Good stuff.
  • Author Mitch Albom explains The Art of Storytelling in this fresh interview courtesy of Writer’s Digest. There’s not a mention of Kevin or “Hit Somebody”, alas, but we thought our readers might want to keep an eye on Albom and his work as we prepare to see the start of “Hit Somebody” with the author’s blessing.
