  • “Kick Some Ass” was the most added single at radio this week (meaning more stations added it to their regular playlists than any other track). This story also features some nice quotes from Stroke 9 about the J&SBSB flick:
Stroke 9’s “Kick Some Ass” is the first single from the “Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back” soundtrack, released yesterday (August 7). The latest film from Kevin Smith is slated to hit theaters on August 22.

Stroke 9 bassist Greg Gueldnersaid the band was treated to an advanced screening of the movie. “We did see it. We got to do a screening at home in San Francisco with 50 of our friends, got a keg, got some sushi, you know; we watched it last week. It was good. It was funny. It’s the most cursing I’ve ever heard in a movie. More than South Park. More than anything, yeah.”

The band is a big fan of Smith’s movies, which include Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma.

Stroke 9 is getting ready to release its self-titled follow-up to Nasty Little Thoughts on October 9. It includes the most-added track “Kick Some Ass.” The band’s forthcoming effort was produced by ex-Talking Heads keyboardist turned producer Jerry Harrison.

  • Here’s the full length J&SBSB taped interviews that some shows have been using clips of, in RealVideo format. They feature Kevin, Jason, Shannon, Mark, Jennifer, Eliza and others. Check them all out HERE.
  • Yet more chances to win free J&SBSB tickets and more if you live in the Texas area. Dallas radio station 102.1 KDGE (The Edge) is having a “JAY AND SILENT BOB” weekend coming up, giving away the soundtrack, action figures, sneak preview passes, and more. Listen for your chance to win.
  • Looks like we can expect another MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT from Kevin in a couple weeks, as Wizardworld.com has announced that some big news is coming when Kevin appears at WizardWorld in Chicago in a couple weeks. We’ll be eagerly awaiting…
  • Just for some quick closure on the whole Tim Burton/Planet of the Apes thing, Kevin has indeed admitted (though he shouldn’t even have had to spell it out) that he was just joking around about the similarities and the legal action. Of course, Burton didn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor about it at all. You can read Kev’s very quick response to this stuff at his WWWBoard HERE. Anyway, that’s that.
  • Do you live in the Washington, D.C. area? Wanna see J&SBSB in advance (August 20th) AND for free? Enter the Washington Post’s online contest RIGHT HERE! Two grand prize winners win a View Askew DVD price pack! Wow. Get those entires in now!
  • Kevin is scheduled to appear on the syndicated radio program “Loveline” with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew sometime next week. We’ll add it to the calendar as soon as we have some solid info.
  • Commercials for “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” continue to air all over the place. Dimension’s certainly putting the marketing bucks behind the film, as this is far greater exposure than Dogma ever had. Unfortunately, ads have been promoting the film with an AUGUST 24th release date (Friday), not the Wednesday that the film was bumped up to. Hopefully, Dimension will cut a different commercial with the proper August 22 release date. Might we even be so bold as to suggest including some of the Hamill footage to raise some eyebrows?
  • IGN Movies spoke with Chris Rock recently, and asked him a bit about his role in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. You can check out a video of the interview right HERE.
  • As if Chasing Amy being on British TV this month isn’t enough, it will also be screening at Manchester’s enormous UCI Filmworks cinema on Wednesday, August 15th as part of the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Showtimes are 2:15 and 8:30 PM. We’re told the screens in this place are really, really big, so this is one not to miss if you’re in the area.
  • In other UK news, J&SBSB is getting a review on ‘Box Office America’, airing on ITV this Friday night.
  • As an addition to our MuchMusic story yesterday about the “Kick Some Ass” video, you can inundate this e-mail address of the channel’s request line to try and get the video aired more often: ondemand@muchmusic.com.
