- As many of you have probably read, Damon & Affleck’s Project Greenlight has been making the news as they held a party with finalists last week, and selected their winner, who will get to direct his own script and be followed on an HBO series that chronicles it. This news is all a bit behind, but just to fill ya in on the finalists from last week, here’s a tidbit from an article on the show:
While its ABC-based reality project The Runner has reportedly hit some logistical snafus in its race to the tube, LivePlanet — the vaunted TV/film/Internet production play founded by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and producers Sean Bailey and Chris Moore — put on a brave face Monday night at the Hollywood Galaxy theater as it hosted a screening of selected scenes from the 10 semi-finalists in its Project Greenlight amateur screenplay competition. Later, Damon and Affleck named the three projects chosen as finalists (culled from a purported field of 10,000 plus over-the-Web entries): Freeing Mr. Jiggs, written by Evan Katz and Barron Ebenstein; Speakeasy, written by Brendan Murphy; and Stolen Summer by Pete Jones. One of the finalists will ultimately take the double prize of directing a $1 million Miramax production of his script and starring in 13 episodes of an HBO reality series on the making of said motion picture.
Ben & Matt also held an AOL chat last week to talk about Greenlight. We’ve got a full transcript of that short appearance for ya right HERE.
- The latest (and sadly, last) issue of the excellent Total Movie magazine (the one that comes with its own DVD each month) features a short called Clerks Uncensored and a short about the upcoming Dogma Special Edition, containing 3 minutes of outtakes! You can also check out shots of the Clerks Animated Series in their special feature on DVD menus. Get it while it lasts, as this may be the only bit of Dogma SE footage you see on DVD for a while!
- Finally today, Askew regular Ethan Suplee is featured in the trailer for the new ensemble cocaine flick “Blowâ€. You can find the QuickTime trailer HERE.
