  • Here’s one fan’s summary of some recent Q&A items from Kevin’s Aussie visit:
I went to the Melbourne Clerks II premiere and Q&A the other day.

I asked Kevin Smith about the horror movie and if Ben Affleck was going to be slaughtered. He replied “Hasn’t Ben Affleck been slaughtered enough”. He then said that for this one, he plans on using a mostly unknown cast. Harvey and Bob Weinstein currently don’t know about the horror movie, so he’s not sure how that will go.

Other things that came up:

On the Prince Scandal, “Kevin had filled in a non-disclosure agreement, so prince was going to sue him, but Kevin had accidently taken the agreement home with him, so nothing could happen to him.”

Jen Smith was originally going to play the Rosario Dawson role in Clerks II, but Harvey and Bob wanted a star to play it, but if all the stars on the list said no, then Jen could play the role. Kevin picked Rosario because he thought she was most likely to say no, but she said yes.

His favourite moment in Australia was seeing a koala shitting while at the zoo.

He hated Superman Returns, found it boring and also found it strange that when Superman came back to earth, everyone was younger.

  • A bit more Aussie news — This one from “New Weekly”, a gossip mag over there. The simple scan compares the first Clerks to its sequel.
  • We have another Clerks II release date for you today — France will get the film on January 10, 2007, sources say. We’re not sure what the reason for the delay is, but we’re hopeful that our French fans can wait a few more months before enjoying the film on the big screen.
  • Some folks are catching the Jason Mewes/Paris Hilton flick “Bottoms Up” on DVD at WalMart for $5.50. If you’ve been waiting to see the flick to see Mewes in a non Askew role, this could be your ticket in.
  • The Outside Groove (a Nascar-based news spoof site) make a reference to Mallrats on the 8.26 post.
  • And finally, an absolutely bizarre one that took forever to download – Some “outtakes” from an anime show called “Berserk” use the “Berserker” line around the 9:10 mark (near the end). Not safe for work. Strange, too.
