  • You may have seen it come and go over the past few days while it was in testing phases, but we’re now happy to report that News Askew Archive Search is now fully functional!

Those of you who visited on April Fool’s Day this year had an early taste of this new feature, but the incredibly high amount of simultaneous search requests had our server gasping for air. This new box seems to handle requests much better, though we still ask today, with this story as the top, you resist the urge to run over there and search out a bunch of stuff this second (unless you have a reason to). The engine’s nice and fast but still buckles a bit when everyone’s searching it at the same time (which never happens on a typical day).

The new Archive Search features a fully functional statistics program, which will track the top search terms over the past week, month, year, and all-time. So far, it seems we’re keeping in synch with the rest of the web mentality, as “playboy” is currently the top search term.

As we mentioned down below in the Spring Cleaning update (it was a busy weekend, by the way, be sure to read below, Mon-Fri surfers), we’re in the process of cleaning up Archives now, so if you see some run-on words or missing photos in your search results, that should go away as we get things tidied.

You’ll find archive search, now and forever, towards the the of your left navigation bar. We hope you enjoy it as part of our continuing barrage of new Spring features here at News Askew. More news later!
