“Sucks Less”: The Blooper Edition!

November 25th @ 2:09 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris, Ryan Maxwell

  • Kevin’s popular UCLA and Secret Stash-based web class/series “Sucks Less” takes a week off due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but the gang was kind enough to still provide us with an equally entertaining installment this week: The Blooper & Outtakes Edition! Links for both PC and Mac users at the usual spot, the mtvU.com website. Watch Kevin crack up the crew, the crew crack up Kevin, and more general fun and flubs from the Secret Stash in Westwood. Sadly, only a minute and a half of this stuff, though we hope to see more outtakes in the future. They’re always good fun.

“Sucks Less” resumes regular episodes with Episode 4 this Thursday, where the gang will show you 3 more ways to kill time on your weekend.

Sucks Less #4 – And Make Your Own!

November 16th @ 8:08 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Episode four of the fun “Sucks Less” series has arrived — Yep, it’s Thursday already! In this week’s episode, the UCLA kids cover the topics of “Squirrel Fishing, Film Fest Volunteers, Street Wars, and the devastation of a really bad haircut”. Kevin takes a fun detour from the Stash intros and outtros this week, yet contributes a hilarious montage to kick it all off. And, of course the stuff continues to be enticing for a fun weekend for those of you in the spots covered. But what about other parts of the country? Well, that’s where you come in.

You see, Kevin’s also announced a really fun contest — Have you been watching the show and getting the urge to do a piece of your own? Well, your chance to film a segment of your own for the “Sucks Less” series has arrived! How cool is that? Sounds like they want you to be a student to do it, but from anywhere in the country. If you get picked, not only will you have the fame of being a part of “Suck Less with Kevin Smith”, but mtvU will pay you $75 bucks on top of it all. Not bad eh? Details from the mtvU site:

WANT TO BE ON SUCKS LESS WITH KEVIN SMITH?

If you are a current student who is a purveyor of cool things to do this weekend, this may be your big shot. Kevin and the class are looking for Sucks Less Correspondants to report from Anywhere USA. If you have covered, or are covering a Sucks Less relevant happening and have that footage edited to a segment between 60 and 90 seconds, we want to see it. It just might get included in a future episode of Sucks Less with Kevin Smith. If mtvU uses the piece, you’ll get $75 bucks.

Email a compressed review version not to exceed 7MB to sucksless@mtvu.com

Or mail DV tapes to:

I Want To Be A Correspondant for Sucks Less With Kevin Smith 770 Broadway, 10th fl New York, NY 10003 Attn: Brian DeCubellis

Things to consider: – mtvU wouldn’t air the piece if had music in it that you do not have the rights to.

– Titles would be added by mtvU so send a version without titles.

To be considered for air, you would have to provide guest releases, location releases and materials releases for every person and place appearing in the piece. Any logo or brand name on clothing or otherwise would not be able to be aired.

Only pieces that say where you are and explain clearly what is happening would be considered.

If it’s a one time event that is not happening in other areas of the country, it’s not likely to make the cut. Send any questions to sucksless@mtvu.com

Sometimes it’s tough not to be a student. This would be a blast to take a shot at. Sucks Less continues to be an entertaining 8 minutes week by week. It’s a shame this can’t run forever (but hey, here’s hoping they can do it every semester!). Get over to mtvU and check it out!

Episode III: “Sucks Less” Is Here!

This week, the gang visits Samba Night at a local L.A. cafe, learn how to get free ice cream, and um….Xtreme Ironing? Yes, you heard it right. You must see this one.

As before, both PC and Mac users are supported with the video, which is wrapped up with more hilarious intros and outtros straight from the Stash in Westwood. Dig in to the 8 minutes of fun now!

“Sucks Less With Kevin Smith” Premieres!

October 26th @ 7:55 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • It’s arrived! The anticipated episode ONE of Kevin’s new web-based series, “Sucks Less With Kevin Smith”, is now available for immediate streaming at the MTVu website. And what a fun show this is, too! The class filmed intros and outtros to 3 mini-segments at the Westwood Stash, with a bit of fun dialogue exchange. Students produced and filmed the segments themselves, which this week, take us to a haunted house, a roller derby, and a nerdcore rap concert. The show moves quick, doesn’t bore, and Kevin makes for a fun host to pull it all together. We’ll be looking forward to these each Thursday, and we’re sure you will as well.

Not only is the episode there, but they’ve also posted a neat Behind The Scenes video, as well as an option to e-mail Kevin and the team your ideas of what to do this weekend.

New episodes premiere every Thursday on mtvU, on mtvU.com, and on amp’d mobile phones. We’ll of course let ya know when they’re up, too.

Train Wreck: 911 And Marbles!

July 31st @ 11:06 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

“Call 911″

“Show Me Your Marble”
  • Probably our favorite moment in Train Wreck history is the subject of the new “Call 911″ video — And not just because we were there! It’s brilliantly edited and scored, and features probably the best practical joke in View Askew history — We weren’t in on it either, nor were many of the onlookers outside the Quick Stop that day…And you literally could hear gasps then stunned silence everywhere. It was incredibly well acted by Jeff and Brian especially, and just as tense everywhere as the look on Kevin’s face when he ran to pick up those paper towels. Great stuff.

Next, in “Show Us Your Marble”, learn the ropes of the Marble Club, a fascinating game that the folks on the set of Clerks II use to pass the time (and sometimes make or lose a few bucks). They come up with the most creative ways to gamble, these film crews…

Enjoy both videos free of charge at the official Clerks II website!

New VIDEO Interviews: Clerks II

July 17th @ 9:11 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Anthony Mcconnell, Mark Bell

  • Film Threat reports to us they’ll be running a new video interview of a Clerks II cast member every day this week! They also warn us that these interviews will ALL contains spoilers, so please only watch at your own risk, or come back and watch after you see the film! The first day, Trevor Fehrman, is now available for your viewing pleasure HERE.

The rest will include Rosario Dawson, Jason Mewes, Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson and finishing up with Kevin.

  • Check out Rosario Dawson’s “Good Day LA” interview in wonderful streaming format at their website but DO BEWARE of a big Clerks II plot spoiler in the scene shown to open the interview (also given away unfortunately in some of the TV commercials). Enjoy!

We’ll keep you up to date on new interview video clips as they become available.

Kevin Kills On Leno!

July 11th @ 7:45 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Last night, Kevin logged one of the most visible appearances during the Clerks II promotional tour, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. As always, audiences were rolling with laughter as he told the tale of the anal fissure, then a nice segue into Clerks II promotion, where the now famous Jay scene that you’ve seen in most trailers and ads is shown to the audience. The clip runs nine minutes in length, and we’ve got it available on our new News Askew YouTube channel. Enjoy!

Seen That RED BAND Trailer Yet?

July 6th @ 10:51 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • We were having so much fun watching this over and over again when it came out that we forgot to mention it — Yes, an R-rated, or “Red Band” trailer of Clerks II is now available online. When watching the TV ads, it just proves how filthy the flick is, considering almost every line of every scene needs altered or trimmed to make G-rated TV. So this time, you can finally catch some of the uncensored dialogue the way it was meant to be heard and seen on the screen.

There’s a lot of spoilers in this trailer, so please stay away if you want to go in clean, which we do always recommend. It’s the third trailer down at this page. Two weeks until Clerks II hits screens folks!!! TWO!!!!
