• This story came up in Yahoo news today, as it appears that The Six Million Dollar Man project is back in development….Will they use Kevin’s 1995 script? It’s a Dimension project, so ya never know! Here’s that story:

• Here’s another really cool event and opportunity, folks. For $250, you can buy a plate at an exclusive dinner being held in New York City by Marvel comics. Kevin will host the event, an auction of exclusive one-of-a-kind original artwork from Marvel’s “Heroes” book. ALL proceeds go to victims of the World Trade Center. • Big news for those of you waiting to finally get your chance to check out this rarely-seen View Askew Production, Malcolm Ingram’s “Drawing Flies”, starring Jason Lee (with a supporting cast full of Askew regulars, including Mewes in his first non-Jay role). The DVD release may actually happen on the SAME DAY as Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, that’s right, February 26, 2002! The folks at IndieDVD are working feverishly to get things ready, and have been kind enough to allow us to debut this cover for the disc, plus in the coming weeks we’ll have some of the other scrapped cover art ideas, extras info, and even information on a VHS release. • The People for the American Way Foundation’s Spirit of Liberty Awards in took place in Beverly Hills on Monday night, and Billboard.com ran an article on the event, featuring this quote from Kevin:

The Lansing State Journal’s review of the film also has the best things to say about Lee’s performance. Open Your Eyes was good, so Vanilla Sky is definitely worth your time this weekend (before the incredibly cool Lord of the Rings hits next week).

• Reelbuff.com is currently running a survey where you can choose your favorite Kevin Smith film.
• Every year, KROQ Radio in Los Angeles puts out an annual X-mas album and this year, track 13 is called “Silent Bob’s Christmas Memory.” Of course, he says nothing, but DJs Kevin & Bean thank Smith and Smith wishes them a merry Christmas. You can listen to the track HERE. If you’re in the LA area, you can pick up the whole CD for just 5 bucks.

• Here ya go, folks! With much thanks to Will for his encoding expertise, we’re proud to present last night’s edition of Roadside Attractions with Kevin Smith from The Tonight Show! In this first edition, Kevin visits some famous sites in the New York area. He also does a brief walk out appearance with Jay Leno himself to introduce and wrap up the short. Pick your flavor below, keep in mind the 128k versions are of course better quality but will take a bit longer to download:

We’ll keep you posted on when the next edition will air. From the sound of things, it won’t be long, as Leno usually likes to air his new feature segments fairly close to one another.

• Magazines like Video Business and Billboard are running a nice pullout ad for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back’s video release, complete with a JSBSB Door Hanger (like those “do not disturb” things they have at hotels). Kevin as Silent Bob on one side with a SSSSHHHHH! and Jay on the other with his fist Empire logo thing going. They’re pretty cool, and apparently will be distributed en masse across college campuses nationwide very soon. Look for them. Given the fact they’re being marketed towards colleges, though, it’s a shame they didn’t put some funnier dialogue on them, making Jay’s the loud side and Bob’s the quiet side. Still, a cool item to look for. Screener copies and posters for the film are now hitting video stores as well, so everything is on the track for both the VHS and DVD release on February 26, 2002. We’re still looking for a preview copy of the DVD to review for the website, so if anyone out there in the biz can provide one, please let us know!

• Howard Kaylan of classic group “The Turtles” plugs all five of Kevin’s films in the latest edition of Eddie’s Media Corner (#10) on the official Turtles website. There’s also a mention in the previous edition (#9), where he says “Smith is a genius, and I do believe that if I could ever just sit down for an hour or two with Jay and Silent Bob, we could solve all the problems of the universe.”
