“My Name Is Earl”: DVD Release Change…

June 16th @ 3:40 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Chris Brad Ashby, Justin McGill

  • TVShowsonDVD.com had previously reported that the long-awaited Season 1 release of the MNIE DVD would hit stores on September 5, but is now reporting the set has been delayed until September 26. No reason has been given, though we’ll keep you posted. We’re looking forward to this one, so the delay stinks, but at least it’s only a few weeks.

And just in case you weren’t already excited for this set, check out this tidbit from the IMDB on another exciting extra:

The complete first season DVD of My Name Is Earl will include an entirely new episode created specifically for the DVD when it is released on Sept. 26, Home Video Retailing reported today (Thursday).

The trade paper said that the episode is kind of an “alternate” to the pilot, in that instead of repenting for his past misdeeds, Earl decides to get back at anyone who’s ever wronged him. Ethan Suplee, who plays Earl’s brother in the series, told HVR that the performers were able “to play around a bit” with the DVD extra. “I don’t think we said f*** or anything like that, but I definitely don’t think you could air it on television.”

Icons on G4: July 15th!!!

June 7th @ 11:40 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Jay

  • We were hoping the date would get moved, and now, according to this schedule that seems to be just the case. To coincide with the Clerks II theatrical release, G4 will air the Kevin Smith/View Askew edition of “Icons” on July 15th at 7:30 PM. The crew was on hand at Vulgarthon filming last week, and also should have Wizard World footage and lots lots more. We’re expecting a jam-packed program of brand new fresh footage, truly one to set the Tivo/VCR/whatever for. If you don’t have G4, find a pal who does! We’ll have a review of the program once it airs, but if any inside sources can nab us an advanced copy, do hook us up!

Spike Picks Up Clerks II TV Rights…

April 21st @ 8:08 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Mark Baseggio, Daniel Rowlands, Greenarrow, Kevin

  • Yes, we know it’s not even in THEATERS yet, but in the fast-moving business of Hollywood these days, folks line up to claim their rights to films all the way up to the final frontier – Network television broadcast rights. Spike TV seems to like the idea of owning those rights for Clerks II, as they’ve picked up the film along with a bunch of other Weinstein Company flicks as part of a package deal. Thanks to Variety and Superhero Hype.

Westwood Stash Featured On G4TV!

April 2nd @ 7:03 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Willie Stevens, Dave Barr

  • A must-see stop for any fan making the trip to California has to be the amazing Westwood Stash. One of the coolest comic book stores in the world in both style and substance, the store features one of the largest collections of authetic View Askew props anywhere. You can pick up all your favorite books, and, of course, all of the cool swag that’s sold at the online store. Televsion program “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network ran an excellent piece on the store, featuring glimpses at the famous folks that often appear there, as well as some of the cool stuff that you can see there. We’ve got a copy of the segment for your viewing pleasure! Check it out. But trust us — Video doesn’t do the store justice. Make sure to visit the stores in person when you’re in town!

Clerks Cited As 19th Funniest Flick…Ever!

January 2nd @ 9:12 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Raynor, Spacekitten, James Warren, Matt Booker

  • A weekend program on the UK’s Channel 4 cited Clerks as the 19th funniest film of all time, coming in ahead of the likes of Young Frankenstein, Animal House, and other classics! We’ve got the full video of the clip as it aired for you, as well as a link to the full list over at the channel 4 website. Here’s the Clerks writeup:
19. Clerks, 1994

Kevin Smith’s directorial debut is as hilarious as it is filthy, cutting to the bone of gritty American service subculture like a chainsaw. The script buzzes with intelligence mired in laziness, and observations born of the meniality of working in a grocer’s. With icons for those whose aspirations stretch to a day on the couch drinking beer, Smith has clearly defined a branch of cinema which he can confidently call his own.

As we expected, Kevin did appear throughout the program to comment on many of the other flicks that made the list. Here’s hoping we can somehow catch a full viewing of the program stateside at some point.

More “Degrassi” Details!

November 27th @ 11:14 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Whitney L

  • We’re just days away from the Canadian premiere of Kevin & Jay’s return to the world of Degrassi. CTV has posted a full press release on the event. SPOILERS AHEAD on the events in the 2-part episode, taken from the full release:
Jay and Silent Bob are back at Degrassi for red carpet premiere

Kevin Smith Returns to Degrassi: The Next Generation in Heated Two-Part Episode, Nov. 28 and Dec. 5 on CTV

Toronto, ON (November 15, 2005) – Degrassi Community School is gripped in movie premiere fever! Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes return to Degrassi: The Next Generation for the Toronto red carpet premiere of their film, Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh? and things are heating up among both staff and students.

Three provocative storylines revealed including an intimate girl-on-girl kiss.

After shooting the movie last season on Degrassi: TNG, Jay and Silent Bob return for the premiere to find hormones out of control and emotions at a fever pitch. With the movie premiere as a backdrop, three scandalous couplings occur, including two girls who take their feelings for each other to a whole new level. The special two-part storyline, entitled “Lexicon of Love,” unfolds Nov. 28 and Dec. 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET (check local listings), ex! clusively on CTV.

Kevin Smith is in town, and with many of the Degrassi students and faculty on the guest list for the premiere of Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh?, the excitement is running high. In Part One (Nov. 28), Alex has never been to a glamorous event before and is sure Paige will get her in. Paige discovers how much the night means to Alex and vows to bring her to the premiere. As the night unfolds, Paige and Alex have a surprisingly great time dancing together and end up sharing an unexpected kiss before crashing at Paige’s house. Meanwhile, Emma and Peter continue their clandestine affair behind Manny’s back with some secret smooches at the event, but are shocked to discover two Degrassi staff members in a scandalous lip-lock.

Part Two of “Lexicon of Love” (Dec. 5) picks up the next morning with Paige and Alex awkwardly avoiding the elephant in the room. Did their kiss make them lesbians? Bisexuals? Alex shrugs it off but Paige is freaked out. She is not supposed to be into women – but after listening to some advice from Kevin Smith, Paige decide to be true to herself and to go with whatever her feelings are. Meanwhile, Emma realizes that what she witnessed the night before threatens the future of her family. But she still feels compelled to reveal the adult indiscretion she witnessed during the party. When she does, all hell breaks loose.

“Degrassi has never shied away from taboo subject matter,” said Linda Schuyler, President, Epitome Pictures Inc. “If kids are talking about it, they’ll see it on our show.”

“Lexicon of Love” is another great example of how this series continues to deal with real-life experiences in a progressive and provocative but also entertaining way,” said Susanne Boyce, President of Programming for CTV and Chair of the CTV Media Group.

The episodes air November 28th and December 5th on CTV. No US airdates yet.

Jay & Silent Bob Return To Degrassi in 6 Days!

November 25th @ 11:18 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Whitney L

  • We’ve got airdates and details marking Jay & Silent Bob’s trimphant return to the world of Degrassi on CTV (no Noggin airdates have been posted yet, sorry). The two-part episode in which Kevin and Jay return to reprise their real-life roles (and alter-egos, we presume) is November 28th. The second part airs a week later on December 5th. The episodes are titled “The Lexicon of Love”. Capsule summaries for both episodes follow, courtesy the brilliant tv.com:
I: The premiere of Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh is here and two students find out how fun hanging out can be. Meanwhile Emma, on a date with Peter, discovers something dreadful.

II: Kevin Smith returns only to help two students who are questioning everything–including their sexuality. Meanwhile Emma can no longer keep her secret.

We’ll of course as always have some nice screencaps and more info on the episodes after they air, in case you’re curious. And if you wanna wait, we’ll of course warn of spoilers and get you those U.S. airdates as soon as possible. The episodes are #11 and #12 for season 5 of the show, so they fall somewhere right in the middle.

Jason Lee Takes Over NBC TONIGHT!

November 12th @ 11:33 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Scott Shaffer, Sam Mendelsohn

  • When Mallrats came out, who would have thought we’d be sitting here telling you that star Jason Lee would take over the entire Saturday lineup for one of the biggest networks in the world? Not us! But now, we’re here to tell you just that. And then some.

Tonight, NBC will air a “My Name Is Earl” marathon, TWO HOURS WORTH, from 9 to 11. It includes the 4 most recent episodes of the program this year. Then, in what we’re calling the CAN’T MISS SNL episode of this year, Jason Lee will host the live broadcast tonight with musical guests Foo Fighters. Let’s count the View Askew and Burt Reynolds references together, shall we?

After the big SNL show, Lee’s off to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday night, ALSO on NBC. He’ll likely be there to tout “Earl”. In related news, Rosario Dawson will appear on Conan this Wednesday to promote “Rent”. Perhaps she’ll work a Clerks 2 mention in there as well.

And, if you’ve been missing “My Name Is Earl”, you’re missing some classic stuff. In the most recent episode, Lee managed to get HUGE Smokey and the Bandit references in there, even worked a scene of him driving the car into the episode. Lee’s gotta be loving this gig!
