Indie Actor Affleck Sets Action Picture

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) – Shifting from Sundance stand-out to big-time action hero, “Chasing Amy” co-star Ben Affleck is set to star with Bruce Willis in the disaster movie “Armageddon”.
Sources said Affleck’s role is structured along the lines of Will Smith’s fighter pilot in “Independence Day,” with the young thesp helping to save the world. He plays an oil rigger who teams with Willis’ character in a race to destroy a meteor on a collision course with Earth.
